I can’t say that I really care for the Standard shift mode in my truck. Seems to have a large delay and sometimes shifts on its own and other times it doesn’t. Usually bring it up to about 3000 rpm. What are your thoughts. Maybe I’m doing it wrong

Standard shift ???? You mean "S" mode which is effectively a shift limiter. Often mislabeled as "sport" mode

Select the gear you want and it will not shift above that number. Put it in 4th, it won't shift past 4th gear.

Steelyhead, if you're interested enough in your truck to learn about the Sequential Shifter(most Tundra owners aren't) After a little practice, using it will become natural just like choosing the proper gear with a Standard Transmission. Speed, Load and Road Conditions will dictate what gear you want for how long. On a 30-35 mph road that's hilly and curvy, there's absolutely NO reason to let your Transmission "think" for you and constantly shift up and down through the gears with the Torque Converter staying un-locked much of the time. Transmission Techs will tell you what an un-locked Torque Converter does to itself given enough time. But...I digress in this age of, "Do It For Me"...…..yes, I'm a Relic from the past:D
