I have spent the last two weeks querying sellers of scanners and scanning software (TIS Toyota TechStream) whether or not their product will autobleed the ABS actuator (module) on a 2002 Tundra and I have been met with all kinds of assurances that fail upon closer scrutiny.

In particular their statement that their product "supports" my vehicle. Support does not answer the question on whether or not it can actually perform the operation. When pressed for an answer they either stop answering or fess up with a lame "but I didn't know it was a truck". Some have finally acknowledged that their product doesn't perform the operation, but they are rare. In all the cases so far, and as I can tell, they appear to be Chinese vendors.

Point being, be careful how you word your queries, and insist they answer it and not their calculated and misleading interpretation of your question. Be sure to save any emails, etc., that shows them answering to the affirmative in case you need to back out or rescind a purchase when it doesn't prove to be true.

Per your software example, the Chinese embed malware to spy and steal what ever you touch. They stole certain parts from Toyota and now market the stolen tech/goods to you, but the reality is they just get into your computer and backfeed whatever they want. You paid them to steal your info.

Agreed. One must be very careful when dealing with the devious, so a plan is wise that excludes their malware schemes. In my case, were I to find one that actually would work, I would 1.) install the software myself, and 2.) load the software on a disposable laptop that has been scrubbed clean of personal identifiers and info. So it goes with those offering the software and cable approach.

Then there are the manufacturers of the handheld units, such as Foxwell, Innova, and Autel, to name but a few, who likewise are inclined to exaggerate or misrepresent their product's ability to perform this ABS function, or so it has been my experience communicating with their personnel. On some, the corporate China agent finally answers to no, while their USA affiliate continues to say yes. The language barrier makes it troublesome, both in China and the USA.

I posted this as an FYI...This is but a summary of my past two weeks effort at ascertaining whether or not there even exists a scanner or software that actually works on the ABS bleed function for my rig and that is affordable by the DIYer. I've kept my search to those under $300 and so far, no go.:frusty:

[edit] I have also found it somewhat disturbing that given the likelihood that the software and cable vendors, in particular, are selling bogus and or blackmarket goods, that Amazon hasn't stepped in and cleaned up this area of concern.

Not sure what your point is.

I have never "autoblead" the brake system using TIS.

Pull the fluid thru each bleader until all bubbles are gone.

it sucks because you need to keep the resivior topped off.

Even with a new MC, this works.

If you get air in the ABS pump it apparently is a pain to clear. I've never done it that I'm aware of, but some programmers have a function for bleeding the ABS.

I have a Foxwell for VW that claims to have this function with certain models but there is no such thing as operating instructions. For the things I have figured out it works beautifully, like running certain systems for smog readiness checks.

Koditten...For a typical bleeding of the brake system, I agree. But then I am talking about bleeding the ABS actuator (module), a different animal requiring a different technique.
