I’ve owned my tundra for two years. Bought it new in 2017. I’ve had a love/hate relationship with it from the beginning. Love what it could be, pretty much hate how they come off the lot.

The motor blows my mind every day. Can’t keep my foot out of the throttle.

After two years I can finally afford to upgrade a few things:

-Elka coilovers. 2.5-3” lift. Was gonna go with king but the shop I’m using recommended this option after Toytec ran out of kings last Monday.

-Going with 35x12.50r20 possibly +1 offset, but more likely +18.
*Update as of 5/15: going with MR309, 20x9. Sending the fuel beast wheels back (d564). The methods are Titanium/black. I am freaking out a little though cause I can’t even find a picture of anyone running a 20” Method in any color with 35” tires. I tend to like bigger wheels. I get that many guys who take off road seriously would never go over 18” wheels. Whatever. I prefer the look usually. I also like matte black wheels in general, but not necessarily on silver. But I’ve found since ordering that methods are built more for that off road, smaller wheel look. And most people run black. I’m concerned that method wheels may look funny that big with 35s. It’s hard to say without seeing pics.... **please post any pictures of method 20x9 wheels wrapped in a 35ish inch tire.**

-35x12.50r20 Falken AT/3W. Got these because of the snow around here. Not many snow rated tires in this size. It snows a lot here. I’ve been running duratracs; like them in snow, but am not impressed with durability. No idea if the Falkens will be any better.

-putting in a bully dog. Don’t know if I need it but the shop insisted for the speedo and more importantly abs system.

-Of course I’ve scheduled time with a welder to cut up my truck so I don’t have rubbing issues. After reading this forum I didn’t waste my time with anyone who hadn’t done a lot of cab/body mount cutting before. Good welder, didn’t get him any blocks or templates to work with (the most popular ones are backordered) but he’s apparently done this with many Tundras before and said he didn’t even want them.

-chrome delete:
Put in pro grill insert new in ‘17 in the first week of owning the truck. Finally replacing the surround from chrome to 1d6 match from a junked platinum truck. Badges may go black with the press on things from eBay. In a couple weeks I hope to wrap the whole front bumper with color matched vinyl (anyone know what color works for 1d6 in vinyl?).


I got a lot of bids from reputable 4x4 shops around the state and asked tons of questions. In the end my local guys, 2 miles from my house, convinced me they knew the job well. They were putting a king system on a tundra when I dropped by...

Guess that’s it for now. Everything is here now.

Welcome from NC! I have to say I was shocked to see that you are spending 9,000 bucks on a 3” lift and work to fit 35” tires.
