Saw a post from papa smurf a while back about swapping out a 26 gallon tank for a 38 gallon in 2nd gen.
Just wondering if anyone has done this in a 3rd gen. Looks totally doable, but looked under my 2017 with 26 gallon and wondered how you deal with the rigid fuel lines that are run further back on the frame for the shorter tank. Anyone?

I just got a 38gallon tank but waiting on my front crossmember to arrive so I can install!

    Didn’t all 2016+ 5.7L come with a 38gallon tank?

I'm thinking you may have fewer headaches by simply replacing the existing lines with those for 38 gallon tank. In fact, it looks to me like the only difference is some short lines right at the tank. Check with @Roman about Items 20 and 21 in this diagram: https://parts.toyotaofcoolsprings.c...7l-v8-gas/fuel-system--fuel-system-components

The problem with changing the lines on the tank (20 and 21) is they won't meet up with the lines on the frame. I thought the lines were needed and I then looked into changing the 2nd set of lines that run from tank forward along the frame, but can't find them on any diagram, and don't know if they go all the way up to the engine bay or not, as they are covered by a heat protective wrap.
I also can't find the parking brake diagram either. As I assume it's different because on a 2nd gen (what I have) it is in the way of the crossmember, but a 3rd gen is more of a bolt on swap.
I have all the parts waiting to go in, but I am torn on if I want to part ways with it all and go the TF route. I am trying to figure out a way to get it high enough via hoist or stands, plus finding time!

You use the short lines from the 26 gal tank and the parking brake is slightly different on the third gen worst case is you bend up the bracket a bit...

Also why make a new thread I’ve covered pretty much everything... and you could just PM me or tag me in the thread I made about this... seems silly to put useful info not in a thread that is easily searchable That is also a well known thread...

    Hey Bruce,
I found your fuel tank post very helpfull, it’s what actually made me decide to go ahead and do the swap. If I am understanding correctly, you would just fabricate new brackets to push the fuel lines and parking brake cable up high enough to clear the tank and reconnect.
Still waiting for the front cross member, thinking that might be the hardest part
    of the swap.

Huh. I don't know if my mechanic/friend switched out for the shorter lines of the 26 gallon tank or not. Would there be an issue? I may have to seriously pm you when my new cross member arrives
