What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

Mine is an 06 DC, 05 & 06 have the bigger brakes if I remember correctly.

 

Threw a set of 4 cheap Rockford Fosgate speakers in today. Sounds a ton better than it did before.

 

Where'd you get em? I been wanting to upgrade my sound system since August

 

Got 4 kickers for $80 at Best Buy. Exact fit. Sound good!

 

That's a hell of a deal. They used to cost that much for a pair back in 2012ish
They're 6.5s right?

FYI, I got 4 JVC speakers from Crutchfield for $48. They have great deals. If you buy a JVC stereo they sometimes give you 50% speakers. That's what I did.

 

I think I actually got 6.75 if I remember right. I took the mount off of the door and just went into Best Buy with it. It’s only 3-4 screws to remove the speaker mount from the door. Then I just found the speaker that fit best. It was 6.5 or 6.75in speakers. It was the kicker CS series. 39.95/pair.

 

What size are the 1st gen speakers in the reg/access cabs. I may as well replace them while I have it all apart

Bought these to make hooking up easy with no cutting, they aren't necessary though.

Bought these adapters. Didn't really fit front or rear so I just drilled holes where they needed them.

All in I was at around $110 I think. Well worth it.

 

Should still be 6.5".

 

Hey, Ive been real interested in upgrading my brakes as I have a 2001 Tundra and am getting some vibration when braking. Im guessing I have the S13WE, and not the 13WL. Is that correct? And if so, does that mean I should upgrade to the 13WL size then?

Would I want to buy the Z36 kit, but with new calipers then? Thanks for any info and for putting up that Amazon link.

13WL or the alternate 13WG are the bigger calipers. I don't know if I would say they stop significantly better than the little guys, I think most improvement that people feel is from having new and freshly bled brakes.

I went 13WL, I should have went Toyota pads but went Hawk HTS. They're pretty good so far but Toyota pads are way meatier, way more surface area touching the rotor. Akebono pads are good too.

The 13WG are about identical but the female threads where the brake line attaches is at a different angle. It doesn't aim back, it aims up.

I have Infinitys all around in my access cab. Older Reference model, some day I will upgrade to Kappa. These have been good to me since 2008 but one is starting to buzz.

 

I have a set of infinite’s that we’re suppose to go in the back doors of my Tacoma. But never made it. Brand new in the box references from 2005

 

So this artived today. I couldn't think of anything I ordered that would need a cancer warning.

I opened it and it was the extra spare tire lowering tool I ordered off ebay.

 

Everything causes cancer, especially in California.

 

well california seems to be the leading cause of cancer i see

 

He's in San Fernando near me, I lived there for several years. We have the Aliso Canyon gas leak, the Santa Susana Field Lab (Rocketdyne) and some of the heaviest smog on the West Coast. I'm sure that sticker on the tool is helping.

 

when i was out in LA i couldnt believe the smog... i thought chicago was bad..

and your drivers out there are almost as bad as chicago drivers.. but then again, alot of those drivers are chicago transplants it seemed!

 

My wife and I were lucky when we went, beautiful and smog free for the 3 days we spent in the LA area. We drove up the PCH (as far as we could before having to detour around the landslide near Big Sur) to San Fransisco, I'd recommend anyone take that trip if you get the chance.

 

Transmission service: 3.5 qts. out and 3.5 back in with Valvoline DEXIII (2500 mile service).

Oil Change: 6.5 qts. Mobil1 ‘High Mileage’ Synthetic (2500 mile service).

Oil rubbed the engine bay with some of the new oil on a rag.

Inspected the steering rack bushings for play due to everyone elses seemly being problematic. No problems here.

Sprayed a coat of PB Silicone with Teflon on both the Transmission Radiators Coils.

Might pull an Ignition Coil and Spark Plug out for grins later after dinner and cerveza.

 

While I do believe you, I am surprised. Same year, nearly identical miles, but mine are horrible. Just curious, how did you test them? Initially, I didn't give my wife good instruction with the wheel. Once I told her what I needed (quick side to side wheel movement) that's when I could really see the bushings bounce around. I can already tell I'm going to see a huge improvement.

Oh, and your engine bay looks great.

 

Got my Akkons in, and now I hear we are supposed to get hail tomorrow..ah well, here’s a black truck with new lamps.

Got the bed off today.. cant see any major damage. but the passenger side rail definitely sits lower than the other

 

I finally sold my 01 I'm gonna miss that truck.

On 2 da 05 now.
Installed the emissions pump crap bypass, Jet maf, spark plugs and aem dry filter. Next up is the suspension and front brakes.
