Toyota did extend the warranty to 150k miles. Mine went out at 248k. I bought a bypass kit for my '08, for about $200. I'm no mechanic by any means but was able to install the two plates and the plug 'n play harness myself. Saved over $2k. NOTE: Depending on what state you live in, it may not pass emissions checks with the bypass kit. Thankfully I live in a state with no emissions checks.

Great. thanks Saban. How do you get toyota to honor the warranty ?? The dealership here says there is a BIG problem with the SAIS but no warranty to fix it. Have read a lot about dealerships not honoring the warranty. Who should I contact about honoring the warranty ?? Thank you.

If you have less than 150k miles on yours, I would call either the local Toyota dealerships and give them your VIN or call Toyota headquarters. I know there are multiple threads on this forum that go into detail about this issue. Some of those may have better information on who to contact. That's where I found out about the bypass kits. Do a search in the forum for either SAIS or "all warning lights are on" think that's how I found it.

Thanks Saban. Toyota dealer said I missed the 10 year cutoff by 2 months. Out of luck. If I may ask, where did you purchase your bypass kits ?? That sounds like the only option I have to fix it without getting reemed by Toyota. I have bought 7 Toyota cars/trucks (Tundras) in the last 15 years and never had a problem until now. I am not happy with Toyota and I will not buy another car from them because of the poor Customer Service I received. It definetly is a factory problem and they will not fix it as a recall.

Ruetech for $178. There are kits that have a wire to hook to starter fuse. Mine didn’t and I haven’t seen a difference. Supposedly without the starter wire you are supposed to crank the truck within 10 seconds of turning the key or it will throw the codes again. If you wait more than 10 seconds, take key out then put back in to crank. Saw that after I bought mine. I haven’t chanced waiting that long.
