Thanks man. I used VHT primer, then VHT flat black and VHT sealer/clear. Living in the midwest where they salt the roads I thought it might hold up a little better visually long term.

Finally replaced the rear glass after my eff-up. Was happy to see “Made in USA”. Tint color is dead on. Defroster wires are smaller but in Corpus Christi, don’t think it’ll matter much.

For anyone in the market Pro Auto Glass on eBay gets a thumbs up from me.BEB2D9A7-882F-4C37-B227-5EF43485842C.jpgBF045691-73CA-4CBA-9D27-AA48F0D16AC5.jpg

Did you replace it yourself? How much of a PITA was it?

Yeah I did it myself. It was surprisingly easy. Obviously back seat had to come out. Then there were some plastic push pins holding on sound proofing, and a large metal access panel held on with about 10 bolts. After that, roll down rear window 3/4 way, four bolts and old window comes out really easy.

Putting new one in channel was a little fiddly but not bad at all. Took maybe an hour start to finish

    Awesome!
I have always wondered how much of an undertaking it was.

Don't get me wrong, by no means am I saying the DIY is not worth it or inferior. If nothing else, it certainly is more cost efficient. I'm just saying I've looked into both and feel the branded pop n lock is better for me. Even if it's only marginal in being easier or less time consuming, I'll take that for the extra money spent. Plus if I ever have an issue down the road with it, there's that too. Maybe I'm just getting lazy in my old age, but if there's a couple less things needed to be done and it can save me some extra time to spend with the fam, I'm all for it.

To me, theres something to be said when something is made specific to the truck. It's the same reason I went with the trd cai over any other. Didn't want to be trimming or heating up hoses to fit ect. Even if it's only a less step or 2, and even if it only saves a very little bit of time, I'd rather spend a little more to get those benefits so I can spend that little extra time I have with the fam. That plus peace of mind are the reasons I went this way.

But like I said earlier, I've heard the other route, the DIY, works very well and is basically the same thing. Plus so far I've already saved time, I only had to hit buy once. I didnt need to spend the extra time looking up and buying multiple parts. So I'm already ahead of the game on time spent lol.

To each his own i suppose. Yes it did take me 3 more clicks of the buy button and maybe 15 more minutes to install, but saving about $75 to me was well worth the maybe 30 additional minutes spent, plus I got my parts next day with Amazon prime. Plus I like tinkering with and building things and figuring things out, and often actually have my daughter come out and watch/help. Doing the DIY also allows for some custom touches such as disconnects for removing tailgate and ability to run wires in a better path. If a part goes bad they are all super cheap to replace compared to name branded parts. I used my money saved to buy sound deadening material for my speaker install, and even stuck a piece back near my plop and lock
Either way the end result is the same. I just like to make other members aware of alternative ways to do mods that save money.

I hear ya brother, like u said to each their own. I was well aware of both, just decided to go this way. Like I said, never poo pood ur way either. Both ways, its a great well needed addition imo.

Just fyi, the newer pop n locks from what I hear come with the wire harness plugs now to make disconnecting your tailgate a breeze. If for some reason mine don't u can bet I'll be contacting them to send me one. Hopefully I won't have to update my experience on their customer service.

U can see in my original post near the top of my pic it only cost me $75.81, so I'm trying to figure out how yours only cost .81 cents?
    FB_IMG_1539863182717.jpg

Plus my boys are 5 & 10. Even though daddy asks if either of them are interested in coming down to mess with the truck they're more interested in video games and killing eachother fighting. As much as I would love for them to come join me, I don't want to force them. I want them to want to. Besides, it's probably a blessing in disguise that they dont want to. After about that whole 20 second attention span hits its max, when 1 of them gets bored, trust me, all hell breaks lose and they start teasing and killing eachother. It's probably better off that for this at their current ages, they don't have much interest yet. They're still at that age where they get bored quick and love fighting and killing eachother. I'm guessing more things would be getting broken by their help than getting fixed or added.

So for me, with 2 little badass boys that aren't interested in helping with truck mods, and honestly at their ages right now, probably better off for me so that they're not causing chaos and destruction, I'd rather save the time, do it myself, and spend that little extra time doing other things they love doing. Keeping my truck safe and in 1 piece in the process.

I got this exact pop & lock. Install went quick, and it has the quick disconnect for the tailgate. The sound is noticeable, so I put sound dampening in the tailgate and really noticed no difference. I’m used to the sound now. Hearing everyone warning about it made me sensitive to it. But it’s crazy useful. You’ll dig it.

I just cut out the slots for the bins, so I left a thin piece on either side of the center bin, and then left enough on the edges so the liner would still be pinched between the storage and the carpet. I didn’t think to take a picture before I dropped the storage bin back in, so hope that makes sense.

What did you need to do to replace the mirror front caps? Can they be removed and replaced without disassembling the entire mirror? I assume this is just the OEM partial cap on the front side of the mirror?
