Still waiting on all pars for first oil change on 18’ tundra-should be good to go this weekend

Was talking to a friend/ mechanic this weekend and he told me to make sure that truck does not have “ break- in” oil that’s supposed to stay in truck for specified time- before changing???? Never seen anyone on here mention this - just wanted to make sure??

Also I installed 2” level lift a little while ago with a differential drop - since installed I read a post on here somewhere that some are saying the diff-drop could cause “oiling” issues and harm differential because of “ tilt” of the diff ??? - should I remove diff- drop In- till I go with a larger lift 3”-4”

    Sorry for long post/questions.

You should be fine changing the oil as long as you replace it with the proper synthetic. I did mine at 5k even though the book says wait until 10k.
As for the diff drop, it’s generally not needed for lifts less than 3”. If you’re worried about it, remove it. In my opinion, less is more sometimes. I like to mod my truck as much as the next guy but the more stock/OEM quality parts I can use the better.

I am interested in the diff drop issue myself....first i have heard of it.
Had OME 3 inch lift with diff drop on my Taco for 100k, no problems....

Is your mechanic old school? Sounds like it, cars used to have break in oil back in the day. Modern cars are btoken in for the most part at the factory, technology in cylinder honing and piston rings has greatly improved. As far as the diff drop... the differentials are splash lubed, no forced piling system, the ring gear throws oil everywhere in there, a diff drop won’t matter at all.

Thx JS- yea he’s old school- and said Chrysler was last one to use break- in - and thought it wouldn’t be an issue- but not sure- he’s a American muscle car guy

    Thx again for info
