So i recently put a leather wrap on my steering wheel. Now the back side plastic is chaffing and I can't for the life of me figure out why. When i did the wrap i removed the air bag and controls, but did not remove the steering wheel. Has anyone encountered this? I must be missing something but haven't seen anyone else post about this issue. it just looks like the bottom half is sticking out too far (obviously) but I cant tell why.

As long as the steering wheel nut is tight, I'm thinking the column plastic housing is not sitting right..

So i've removed the steering wheel nut probably 4 times to check and see. The wheel turns completely normally now as it did before. i just can't figure out why the plastic isn't "sitting right".

I just went out to the garage and wiggled the plastic housing. It moved with ease..I would split the column plastic and then look for something near the top back..

OK thanks I'm going to try that. Before I took off the air bag and controls everything worked fine. but it's clearly struggling right now!
