So far , drove the truck 500 miles give or take and adding them both is not even close to as bad as all the info i got off of the all knowing internet. Hmmmm... 99.9% of the time this truck will be on roads.... with includes paved and groomed dirt roads. I will revisit this in the months to come...probably.

Awesome getting your son under there and helping most kids these days couldn't put air in a tire if you asked them to. Truck looks great and I hope you guys enjoy the heck out of it.

From your comments, I thought you put on a spacer lift until I watched the video.

 

Nice work & video, your 'Jittery' comment has me convinced I did the right thing by leaving the front bar on my RCSB original. I installed the bar on the rear, and if the rear of my truck wasn't also lowered & bagged I would have gone with the heavier Hellwig for the rear instead of the thinner TRD rear bar. I hope you get the jittery feeling solved... did you keep the original bar just in case?

Anyway, that’s awesome you and your son spent quality father/son time wrenching on your truck. My son is only 5, but he helped me, as much as he could, with my coilover, diamondback and Dirtydeeds exhaust installs. Loved every minute of it.

As for the front sway bar, I’m a big believer in them after my friend flipped his Tacoma on its side doing donuts in the mud - after he took his factory sway bar off. Besides, some argue they may help limit possible down-travel over extension to the extent that’s feasible. So who knows? Your Pro looks awesome by the way.

ok...first i thought that i would get slammed for installing car parts on a truck that was designed for "off roading only" ...so ya..you guys are actually awesome .
Still working on my video/editing and overall skills.
And i did keep the original part....

Do you guys know of any quick disconnects i can add to the rear sway bar?? is there such a thing?
Is there any difference in feel is i trail the rear sway bar instead of leaving it in the position its in now? in other works placing it behind the axel insect of where it is now...it would create more ground clearance

DFW? What part? I’m in Waxahachie about 30 miles south of Dallas. And yeah, I was born in upstate NY but have lived all over the place. Been in TX the last 22 years or so.

As for quick disconnects, I’m not aware of anyone making any for our trucks. I’ve heard of others on pirate4x4 making their own for various older Toyota models, though. I’m wondering if a 4x4 shop like Baertrax in Dallas could fabricate some, but my guess is that it would probably be expensive to do so.

Yep, after a little research and shopping, I couldn't see the advantage of the TRD sway bar. Hellwig's bar isn't 'red, it's adjustable and made from heavier stock, for the price paid. Much like the difference between Amp Research/Toyota's bed step and Bestop's bed step. Just couldn't see paying a premium for less product that functions exactly the same

I'm assuming that your talking about the jittery ride? ya it does so , if the road has a washboard waviness to it..hard to explain here... but i like the ride enough and will not remove any of the sway bars. cons and pros to every mod.... i have a friend with a 2019 max sr5 , who did both sway bars after i did mine and he loves them....i will make a string of tundra videos soon on my modifications

Love your videos, been following your Mustang build. It may just be the camera angle but it looks like from your Tundra front sway bar video that the end links may have been accidentally swapped side to side as the end link seems to be meeting the sway bar at the wrong angle. Check the angle in your video of the end link on the OE bar before removal and then look at the TRD bar to see what I mean.

 

really?? i will look at that again... i took just the sway bar out and do not think i removed them in the install... i thought they looked odd... crud. im sure you are right

the mustang build and the rest to fallow... are just to keep my son (just tuned teenager) ..one, to know how to turn wrenches and second, out of trouble and give him something to do and purpose. they all seem to default to playing video games and what not.

Flipping his truck in the mud doing donuts probably had very little to do with no front sway bar.

 

Not sure I understand, but I admit I’m no automotive engineer. I will say, though, that he rolled it while on flat terrain. My limited understanding of the anti-sway bar (also sometimes called anti-roll bar) is that it is supposed to be designed to act as a torsional force to counteract the centrifugal force applied to the outer wheels when turning. If my understanding is correct, then a sway bar would have helped counteract, although admittedly would not eliminate, the centrifugal force by applying some torsional downward force on the opposite inner wheel when doing donuts (mind you, he wasn’t even going that fast, either). It probably would’ve also applied some manner of understeer, thereby lessening even further the centrifugal force upon the outer wheels.

Granted, I could be completely misunderstanding sway bar physics. And I admit it’s still possible he could’ve rolled even with the sway bar installed. His truck had a 3” lift with bigger tires (33’s if I remember correctly?), so his center of gravity was higher than stock. That higher center of gravity would’ve compounded the centrifugal force applied to the outer wheels. But I still believe there would’ve nonetheless been more understeer and more opposite torsional force applied on the inner wheels with it on than without. Could it have prevented the rollover? I don’t know. Could it have reduced the risk? I think it could have, but like I said I’m no automotive engineer and I could be misunderstanding the physics involved.
