Another unused connector question

This connector is just hanging down in front of the oil cooler/AC condenser. It has a plug in the end to keep dirt out. First, any ideas what it's for. Second, should it be attached to something to keep if from flopping around?

 

My best guess is that it's for an option that you don't have.

I have a talent for stating the obvious, I know.

 

Probably a bug, there's no sign of damage.

 

I looked at my truck this morning and all that I really see on it is the ambient air temp sensor behind the bumper on the driver's side. It's in front of the transmission cooler...

 

Thanks! This is at the top next to the hood latch. I wonder if this is the air temp sensor? Mine's a 2012, it could be in a different place on different models. What I thought was the protective cap could be the temperature sensor.

 

Next to the hood latch? That would make me wonder if it's for a switch for a security system to detect if someone's trying to open the hood. I've read that some trucks have that, pretty sure mine doesn't.

 

whatever it is it looks like it's wearing a thin spot in the cooler/radiatior. I will check on my 2011 later and see if I have that connector.

 

I noticed that an used a zip tie to get it away from there.
