I’ve had the light come on and only put 28 gallons in the 38 gallon tank. Depends on the road and driving conditions. The fuel will start sloshing and give you a “false low”. Mind you if it’s telling the sender it’s low your pick-up tube (or pump) is also getting the same fluctuations, maybe a dry fuel pump occasionally. Maybe heat it up and contribute to early failure. I’m sure you have heard this once before as almost everyone has. As I stand here on my soap-box, slumped, I have an 1/8th tank. curious to see how low I can get it to see how many gallons it will take to fill.

Thank you for your replies everyone !
I've just got the truck with 38 gal tank last November and have never let it go down more than 1/4 tank during the winter .
    Best regards !

I was short on time the other day and put in 37.6 gallons. LOL i was a bit nervous if I was gonna make it.

Normally I buy gas at the same station and fill up as soon as reasonable after the light comes on. Usually around 32 gallons. Not good for the pump to run it down to almost dry very often. Also can suck up shit off the bottom of the tank when doing that.

If an object is heavier than gas it is going to be on the bottom of the tank regardless of how much gas is in the tank. So I guess you proved that they do hold 38 gallons.
