Hey guys need some advice taking my family to Pismo beach for the first time. Do I need to turn off traction control when in 4wd? And how much should I air down on my 305/65/18?

Turn all nannies off. Press tow haul. Air down to 20psi and let it rip.

Traction control will kill some of the power if you start spinning, more fun turned off. Airing down depends on your tires and if the sand is soft or hard, start at normal pressure and see how it goes.:mudding:

Also you may want to look into getting a flag. Stay away from the water unless you don’t care about rust. Do not get stuck in a bowl.

We frequent Pismo 2-3 times a month. Plan to air down to 16-20 depending on how far back you want to go, and if there’s been recent rain. Plenty of flag options on the beach, and air, if you don’t carry your own ($). Take it slow until you hit soft sand, momentum is your friend. Follow someone if you want to get an idea of how to run the sand highway, and observe how others perform precision idiocracy, teaching you the don’t do’s. It takes a little practice to get unstuck, bring a shovel and TREDs. When are you going?

I would say watch others and learn. Last time i went out saw some great drivers and so dumb people. Take it slow and get youe feel. Start with 20 psi and see how it goes.

Whenever possible, if you are parking on the sand do it aiming downhill. If your truck is facing downhill it's less likely to get stuck when you want to leave.
