So I finally put about 3k miles on after 7 months. Old intervals used to be 3k/3mos, now it's about 5k/5mos I'm guessing. I did change it back in January when I did my VC gaskets, and changed it in my SHO in October with similar usage (3k in 6mos). So when is a good time to change if you dont ever hit the mileage for about a year?

I use synthetic and change my oil once a year; I drive about 3k a year.
If using dino I wouldn't go past 6 months.

Some will say six months some will say a year. What type of driving are you doing when you do drive it? Is it just really short trips? Or do you drive it at least 20 minutes to get it nice and warm before parking it?

If you’re getting it nice and warm to cook out all the water that accumulates in the oil, just change it once a year. If you are very short trips I suggest every six months. Don’t pay attention to the miles if they’re that minimal. Time is more of a factor.

I change my oil once a year-ish LOL I drive between 5 and 7000 miles a year. I think I’m using extended performance that is good for one year or 15,000 miles if I recall correctly.

The 3k miles or 6 months is good. Stick with that regardless of synthetic or dino.

When I do drive it it's to take the kids to school, about 45 min round trip. No real short trips living between 2 towns. I think I'll stick to 6 month intervals with conventional high mileage.

I asked Blackstone labs this exact question when I sent in my oil sample. They said time is not an issue like it was in the past. That's an old school myth at this point.

That being said, I probably wouldn't go much longer than a year.

Heavy Service needs to be considered, as well. Defined as:

    1) Towing/Hauling
    2) City stop and go driving.
    3) Driving in temps over 90° (extended).
