oil leak from oil cooler. Anyone else ??

Are any of you guys have this oil leak? I just changed my oil over the weekend 2016 with 22k miles.. mine is leaking at the bolt.nut at 12 oclock of the oil filter housing. slight drops after a couple days.

   Something the Techs are starting to see is an oil seep that develops from around the Oil Cooler near the oil filter housing. This is usually noticed at the first or second oil changes (10,000/20,000 miles). If you want to check, you can see some evidence of the oil seepage on the skid plate.
   
   You can check it yourself or have your local Toyota Dealer do it for you. If your Tundra does develop one of these, please ask to have the Dealer Technician submit a DPR (Dealer Product Report) and let Toyota know about these. This will not only help other Tundra Owners but also make the product better. There may be a Technical Service Bulletin coming soon

 

Bought mine used with 26,000 now at 64,000 all dry

 

Just curious, but shouldn't that hose be pushed in more???

 

That post is from 2013 and only one person replied, so it seems like a rare incident? I have changed my oil twice now and haven't noticed an oil leak.

It does look that way at first glance, but that is indeed correct. That hose nipple is longer than the other.

 

Mine leaked there when it was new and the dealership had to replace some gasket. Running dry now

 

Maybe it's localized to ~2013 Tundras. I just brought mine in for service, and the leak was identical to the one pictured above. (The primary service/concern, though, was the evap canister assy, actually, and it was insanely expensive (to me) to get done.)

 

That likely isn’t the cooler leaking, but instead the timing cover and over time has ram down the cooler.. at least all the ones I’ve seen like that. (Hard to tell from the photo though)

could be the cooler too though. The hoses you see have coolant in them. The plate has o rings on the other side that seal the oil

 

I dunno, but it looks pretty similar, and it cost me $358 to get the gasket and o-rings replaced.

 

My 2017 had oil cooler gaskets replaced under warranty at 55,000 miles. It had been leaking for some time. Cam towers/timing cover are dry no leaks.

 

My 2020 is leaking @15,000 miles, caked grease all on skid plate but no drips on the concrete. I cleaned it up thinking it was running down from a camtower leak, or spill while filling, it came right back. Thankful for this forum.

 

Mine has no leak so far, 65K miles. I've been changing my own oil since new (2017), from 1.5K miles to 5K miles and every 5K miles there after. Keeping my finger crossed.

 

My 07 has a similar leak but a bigger mess. I plan on changing out the oil cooler gaskets and o rings then go from there.

i already installed a metal oil filter cap so i know that’s good
