    Looking for some help everyone.

New truck has just over 900 miles on it. Got in it to go to work tonight and the tire pressure light was on. Dash screen said 11 psi in the left rear tire. WTF?!

Went about a mile, pulled over and noticed a large, thin sliver of metal stuck in a center groove. I doubt it is something that can be plugged. Drove back home and took wife's car to work.

Obviously I don't have the Michelin tire warranty booklet with me. And I cant imagine a flat from a piece of metal would be covered under warranty.

    So what are my options?

Am I stuck buying 1 new tire? Looks like Tire Rack has the Michelin LTX A/T2 in stock for $187.50, free shipping.

Can the dealership do anything for me?

Is this OEM Michelin tire a common tire/size that a Mavis, Walmart, Pepboys etc keeps in stock?

Ill toss the spare on when I get home in the morning.

Thanks for any help you all can provide.

Now's your chance to upgrade those boring stock tires and throw on some BFG AT's!!
In all seriousness, I think you are SOL as far as getting the dealership to replace the tire, as Michelin actually controls the tire warranty. Unless you have road hazard insurance, you may be stuck with buying 1 tire. 900 miles isn't too bad to throw new rubber into the rotation.
BUT... Try your luck at the dealership. They may have some used stockers lying around from folks upgrading their tires. Craigslist seems to have an abundance of next to new stock Tundra tires for sale, but usually they are sold by the set.
In any regard, I wish you luck!

    Thanks for the quick response!

I figure Im SOL. which I understand. Shit happens. Ill stop at the dealer on my way home this morning and see what's up.

If I had more cash to toss around, if these tires had more miles on them or it was closer to winter, Id consider buying a set of 4 tires and upgrade. If I were to upgrade/up-size tires Id do new wheels as well. Big money there...trying to buy a dirt bike lol

Yep, gotta buy it yourself. If you buy at Discount Tire you can get a warrantee, that will allow replacement for just about any future damage.

I was thinking put a knife in the other 3, then say "Honey, the guys on the forum have never seen anything like this but promised me it won't happen again once I get 35" all terrains"

    :D

That sucks man. At least your tires are early in the life span so you won't get I to having vastly different amounts of tread on each tire.

hahahah :rofl:yea , I think if the truck was my only money pit, that would be totally doable. Trying hard not to spend money on the truck that isn't necessary at the moment. Few upgrades are necessary....bed cover, short antenna, a pillar handle etc. you all know lol

Eventually the plan is the upgrade wheels and tires for summer weather and use the stock wheels for snow tires. But that's a while from now lol

Ill stop at the dealer on the way home and see what they can do.

When they tell me Im SOL (which I understand) Ill put the spare on, order a new tire online, and then try to plug this tire.

    I second that, great advise!
I shredded a new Wrangler MTR about a month after purchasing and had it replaced with the "Certificate of Repair/Replace/Refund". No hassles at all.

I know about this because, like the OP, I had a fairly new tire damaged by FOD on the freeway. The distance it took for me to move to the side was enough that the inside was damaged. Had to pay out of pocket for replacement.

Because of this warrantee option, I plan to order my STT Pros for off-roaring from Discount, even though it costs a bit more, so I can thrash on 'em without worrying.

That tire can be fix as good as new. As long as it was in the tread area it can be fixed. Your spare should be the same size and swap it over if in doubt. Put the Fixed tire for your spare if need be.

Yep. Very few shops nowadays patch up tires properly from the inside. Good advice.

    Thanks everyone for the help!

this is exactly what I did. I was amazed to see that the spare was the exact size AND model of tire as the rest of the truck. Definitely did not expect that. So I dropped the spare, took them to MAVIS and they swapped the spare to the TRD wheel and then fixed the damaged one and mounted on the spare rim. $54 all total.

Damaged spare tire is still holding air. So everything looks to be good!

    thanks again!

My tires were covered under warranty for the 3/36, or was it a year, can't remember but call your dealer.
