stopped by for a test drive 2019 platinum. Rode around lot with sales guy. We stopped in front while he went to get a dlr plate. Came back told me his manager says we can’t take out any tundra due to a recent recall on a safety sends sensor. So I just messed around interior. Was nice and back seat was massive. But coming from my 18 Tacoma. The infotainment screen and keyed ignition was meh. Going to test drive a titan on Monday.dont flame me. As I’m sure some of you guys probably considered one. Just weighing my options.

Are you looking for a truck or luxury? I saw the Nissan Platinum Reserve $65k while getting my wifes Altima serviced. It had a very nice interior, but I couldn't get past the design in general. Plus it came with plastic factory liner , @ 65k better have a spray in with led lighting throughout the bed. I'll take a Tundra any day. Good look and let us know how it works out.

It was either GM or tundra for me. Always had GM, never once have let me down and have always loved those trucks like they were my kids. When it came time for a new one the active fuel management I believe they call it (?) scared me off. I don’t want to be running on 4 cyclinders sometimes and I don’t want my truck to turn off every time I’m at a redlight. I knew reliability was number one and the logical choice was a tundra. Bought an old one just to test the waters for a few years and see how I liked it and now my next one will definitely be a tundra also. Just 2014-2017 so I don’t have to deal with the constant sensor bs. Do your homework and I believe you’ll make the right choice as well!

Datsun made horrible vehicles back in the day. Datsun changed their name to nissan so they could sell vehicles. But it is still a datsun imo. But to each his own.
Go on nissan forum. ... see what they say about there trucks...good or bad.

Nothing wrong with doing your homework. The Titan is probably more refined with more modern options. The Tundra is more than likely more reliable and I would bet much better on resale.
I personally don’t like the look of the Titan but if it fits your eye then consider it.

    TEXAS!
PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND READ THE CONSUMER REPORTS AND VISIT TITANTALK.COM

AT THE VERY MINIMUM, TEST DRIVE TITAN FOR AT LEAST 20-30 MINS; THE TRANS DOES NOT ACT UP UNTIL WARM.

ADDITIONALLY, I DID NOT NOTICE ANY TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS UNTIL ABOUT 800 MILES.

I am NOT yelling (with all caps), just want to make sure you think this through, very through. btw... i did not have a lemon; after pressing the service advisers hard enough, they'd open up and admit to all the problems.

Below was my response to a similar thread regarding the Titan not too long ago...

    START QUOTES:

visit titantalk and read the VERY LONG transmission thread.

had an '05 titan; bought from my father. bomb proof, except couldn't swim. lost it and everything else i owned during harvey in houston.

made a lot of quick decisions during sept 2017. a 2017 titan was one of them. BIGGEST POS I'VE EVER OWNED.

    transmission / shifting = garbage

headlights filled with water; not condensation... actually holding water

windshield washer hose was not connected, tried to clean windshield, cleaned engine bay instead. was pissed...

once connected, windshield washer hose had leak, dripped out of sprayer

    passenger seat shakes

driver side seat belt mechanism (part that rolls up belt behind b-pilar) was loose... freaking loose...

rattles, squeaks, and creaks with only a few thousand miles

got so tired of the dealer warranty trips, i started fixing sh!t myself.

oh yeah, column shifter. what year is this!?

got rear ended very hard. bent frame. great excuse to rid myself of that piece of crap.

bought a '19 limited CM in cement. COULD NOT BE HAPPIER.

    END QUOTES:

Another post I've made here regarding Titan.

    START QUOTES:

i had a '17 titan. bought as a rash decision after losing EVERYTHING during harvey in houston.

got rear ended so hard it racked the frame 3/4" out of square; glad to rid myself of that piece of crap.

btw... had a '05 titan; bombprooof.

please be THAT FRIEND and tell your buddy to visit titantalk before making a final decision. read about the regen probs. read about the transmission probs.

nissan titan has been offering HUGE discounts; they're not doing well right now and have too many unhappy customers.

    the 2nd gens are junk.

i LOVED my 1st gen titan; i HATED my 2nd gen.

more than excited to have a tundra parked in my drive; have NEVER enjoyed a pickup as much as this one.

could not fathom a shift from tundra to titan

    END QUOTES:

absolutely best of luck in your decision!

FYI....Nissan brought back the "Datsun" name in 2013 in "emerging markets"...ie...... 3rd world countries where a tiny piece of crap car that gets 40 mpg is better than riding a bike 20 miles to work to make $3 a day....oh...wait.......those new 3rd world Datsun's are only for the rich.......

I was in the same situation and I actually think the Titan is a good looking truck. Right now there are VERY heavy discounts on the left over 2018s...so tempting.
My biggest issue with the Titan...resale value.

Yeah new trucks have to have time to grow on me and the titan never did, still ugly....but I remember everyone posting here about how ugly the new silverados were. Seeing them around town now more and more and I think they look damn good

We have a 2007 Titan. Bought it new and it has a hair over 250k on it now.

Hate to say it but it's been a reliable vehicle. Oil changes, brakes and tires is pretty much it so far.

I hear the new ones arent as good though.

Oh, and my 2018 Tundra hasn't had any sensor problems or anything like that. Yet. Maybe it wont. We shall see.

I drove the 2019 Titan, I choose the Tundra.
Take the Titan on the interstate and listen to the drive train noise and vibration. Seems to be typical of Nissan trucks. Check Titan forums.
I traded a 2018 with 3500 miles for the 2018 Tundra due to vibration and noise issues that seem to be common in the Titan and Armada.
Don't get me wrong, I like the Armada and Titan for ride, handling, interior quality and more, but, the Tundra has it's good reputation and higher resell value for a reason.
    Oh, I love my 1794 2x4 Tundra
If this helps, I gave my nephew my 1999, 4 banger, 2x4 4Runner, It now has 240k miles, never been in the shop and still runs great.
    Toyota all the way.

Thanks for replies. Dealer appraised my 2018 Tacoma crew cab with premium and tech package with 9,600 miles at 28.5. Just asked for my key and left. Kbb says I should at least get 32k for it.
