Caught wind of this a few days ago, and sure enough, the guy working with the manufacturer to make it happen confirms its pretty much good to go and coming soon...

    Capture.jpg

Says it will work with any OEM HU 2014 and up. No details on ETA or pricing yet.

Kartunes in Tempe AZ. They do a ton of Tundra work (big time supporter of the "Arizona Tundras Group" on Facebook).

Retail is 950.00 (ouch!). They're investigating a group buy possibility with the mfg'r. Might could get that price down dramatically... less ouch?

If its more than $450 why not just upgrade to a aftermarket head unit with Apple play

Good night that’s freakin ridiculous. Can get a nice Pioneer for ~$260. Better be a 70 to 80% discount to make it worth it.

None of this makes sense. It is still shit processor, screen etc. For $950, I know for a fact I can upgrade my entire sound system.

Why would they price it that high? It is not like they wrote the freaking android auto and apple car play. It makes me wanna try this myself and release a how to guide for free. I bet this is installed via usb would not even have to take it out

DIY pop n lock, 2018 LED headlights, morimoto fogs, TRD shift knob, DirtyDeeds 8"BAM exhaust, kenwood HU,JL amp, Tech12volts Tundra full speaker upgrade w/sub, Swing case, and lots of fluid film
I shopped around and got in on group buys from tech12volts. I found a used headunit and amp, and you're right.... I'm a little under $950 into my full audio rebuild. I will have CarPlay and android auto, OBD 2 integration
Kenwood ddx9902s DVD, multimedia bluetooth, CarPlay, AA, backup cam...
    Dash kit
    Maestro Rr w/ TO2 harness
JL audio 300/4 amp, amp wiring kit
    All wiring and harnesses needed
Hertz components in all 4 doors
    Infinity 3.5" dash corners
Dual JL Audio center dash tweeters
10" JBL sub in custom box

You could easily get a CarPlay equipped head unit and maestro to connect to your OEM system for under 500 for wired CarPlay and probably 700 for wireless and youd have a much much better headunit than upgraded OEM. For free of jump on it, even a nominal software upgrade. But not a penny over $100

Maybe $950 is opening price as they negotiate with manufacturer. I agree, anything over a few hundred and I will look for something else. Heck, if the 2020 pro has android auto already being reported I am sure someone will figure out how to adapt that backwards to other tundras.

This would be worth $200 to me, max. My HU with maestro and dash kit was under $550.

Agree. I get my kenwood headunit (has wired android auto, wireless was too expensive for me) maestro, and other goodies installed Sunday hopefully. Total was under 950 and that includes amp, wiring, and replacing every speaker. This whole thing is a good idea but i doubt it'll do a thing to help the horrible sound these trucks put out stock.

950 that's insane. I'd pay a 100 bucks to have this installed tops. Anything more I'll just buy an aftermarket headunit that will give me way more options then just android auto.

Nothing new yet, except to say before putting their name behind this / and or offering up a group buy, the guys at Kartunes are testing it thoroughly and want to be 100% sure its a dead nuts effective and reliable option. This might take a couple weeks still.

Also regarding the price: expensive, yes. Even at a group buy rate, its still going to be expensive. And its not for the guys who can do all their own work, and who know how to build a full aftermarket system for probably less than this will cost. This is going to be specifically for those who are more 'hands off', and/or those who don't want to lose the factory HU, and/or those who start comparing the costs of a full replacement system vs the cost of this and can see that, for what they want, the prices between the two might not actually be that far apart.

Now is probably a good time to say I have no vested interest in this. I'm not associated with Kartunes or the mfg of this box or really involved in any other way than I know 'the guy' at Kartunes heading this up, trust his opinion, and that I expressed some curiosity in the idea when he first told me about it.

Subbing for updates. Agree that the rumored price is high, but will reserve judgement until finals are released.

To the point above, I’d ascribe a fair amount of value if this retains stock appearance and is plug-n-play.
