Another New Tundra Owner, but Almost a Ford

    All - been lurking for a few months while I was in the process of searching for a new truck. Was seriously considering a F 150 Platinum with the 3.5L. Almost got sucked into the Ford machine - I truly liked the interior comforts, the look of the panoramic roof and the different things I thought I needed at the Platinum level (massaging seats...sure!). Upon a closer look, out of the 5 or 6 F150's I test drove (all 16,17 or 18s), all had something off about them - a ton of water spotting around one of the moonroofs, a wobbling side view mirror (thought it was going to fall off on the highway), a salesman that went to show me the glove compartment of a F150 with 8,000 miles on it - goes to close it and crack...some plastic piece broke and the compartment wouldn't close.

    Anyway...

    My initial introduction to the Tundra was a '16 1794 edition that I test drove. Didn't care for the interior. Kept looking and ended up locating a 18 Platinum 4x4 CM in MGM. Came with the tonneau and runners. Really enjoy driving it and don't have any complaints so far. Mileage is not good, but I knew that going in. I do enjoy the 38 gallon tank!

    Based on guidance I've found on this site, I've added the following in the last few months:

    TRD shifter
    TRD Rear Sway Bar
    ESP underseat storage (plastic)
    Matching mirror caps
    Huskyliners

    Also have the matching door handles on the way and may look at wheels next.

    I appreciate the insight so far and look forward to being part of the community.

    Welcome! I was researching F-150s for about a year (2013-2015 5.0Ls was my range) but then it hit me one day to check into tundras. I mean I've had and still have my 06 Tacoma with 217K miles that has been mostly problem free. I just figured I'd be getting "more truck" for the money with a Ford. After seeing tundras weren't too far out of my price range, I did some quick research and decided on what I wanted. Now I'm the proud owner of a 16 CM 5.7L in inferno.

    Ford lost out again!
