Exhaust myth?

Talking to a guy today, he said stainless steel will drone less than alumanized. ( same manufacturer and style exhaust. Any truth?

 

I don’t know about droning less. But I imagine there could be some truth to the sound difference.

 

How is that possible?

 

Just that they are different materials. I would assume stainless is more dense.

With a catback the slabs dofference is minimal. But build a full race system, header collector to tailpipe, both exactly the same only difference is material, the difference is huge. Stainless is extremely raspy. That said, the higher pitch could absolutely reduce drone by covering it up with higher frequency.

Nah. In a catback not really.

In a race system Both 304 and 409 sound about the same.
