My 07 5.7 ltr keeps downshifting to 1st when slowing to take corners through intersections, etc. Doing this @ around 10 to 15 mph, causing high rpms (around 3000) then immediately upshifting to second. Seems totally unnecessary, as every vehicle I have ever driven would downshift to 2nd in those conditions for a smooth transition. There a no warning lights. Thanx for any experience, strength, and hope!

    TEXAS!
i notice the exact same thing on my 2019... when i step on the gas immediately after a turn.

it seems that if i wait until the turn is complete, or almost complete, by another 1/4 - 1/2 second, then press the gas, the transmission sticks with 2nd gear.

a little annoying, but not a big deal for me as i came from a '17 titan that had a transmission and rpm flutter all over the place. that pickup was the biggest 45k piece of sh!t i've ever owned. it was rear ended at 40+ mph, racked frame, great excuse to lose 15k (yes, titans lose value FAST) and rid myself of that piece of crap!

    love my tundra!

id rather a miss downshift into lower gear that a miss upshift (and fall flat on its face when i need to GO) any day of the week.

the more these manufacturers add more gears to squeeze an extra .00000001% more mpg, the more problems we're going to experience.

i bought tundra BECAUSE the powertrain is old. it's 5 speed. it's proven.

would've purchased a manual if available.

i could not imagine driving an f-150 with 10 speed tranny.

cannot offer much help or advice. i can only attest to your experiences.

very much curious if others share our downshift irritations.

Thanx for sharing. I have read that if you switch to S drive ( be sure to up shift to the highest gear afterwards), that it could eliminate the problem. May have to do with the AI (assisted engine braking) feature. Using the S drive could also add some MPG. Going to try today and post results.
