I am wanting to do an overbed rack with a retractable tonneau cover. I currently have an oem tri fold cover that has its own rails and brackets that relocate the bed track system lower. I have some accessories that mount into my track system, so I can’t give up use of that. Does anyone know of a retractable bed cover that has its own mounting rails and brackets that relocated the track system lower? Everything I’m seeing either says I have to remove the track system or use it to mount the cover.

    HELP!

Truck Covers USA has a retractable cover, the American Roll, that they sell with a kit to lower the OEM bed rails. I just installed the cover a couple weeks ago, it is very very nice! Lowering the rails wasn't difficult, just took some time and I ended up having to spray some bedliner on the metal where the rails were as the bedliner was done after the OEM rails were installed. The rails end up being about 3" lower than the OEM installed height.

The cover install took about 2 hours, probably could've gone more quickly but I was taking my time so I didn't mess anything up. Fit and finish is superb, looks fantastic and functions perfectly. It has yet to rain since I installed it, but I think it'll be pretty close to water tight.

The cover can be ordered with Yakima tracks pre-installed or they can be installed after the cover goes on the truck. I am in the process of installing the Yakima tracks and rack system sold by Truck Covers USA, just waiting on the parts to arrive. You'll need a rivnut tool to install the Yakima tracks, once those are on, the rest is easy, same as installing Yakima rack on top of vehicle. Here's a couple pics of the cover. Once I have the tracks and rack installed I'll add some new pictures.

Are you able to keep you're current relocation brackets? If so you can just order a roll-up cover for a non-cargo rail system

Not 100% sure I understand the question but yes, you can order the same cover for an installation that does NOT have the bed rails, or you can remove the rails and not reinstall them if you don't think you'll use them. The kit they sent to lower the rails consisted of 6 black rectangular pieces of steel with holes drilled to match the original mount points for the deck rails and holes to reinstall the rails lower. It also came with the screws/bolts to use to remount rails.

Simply put, the relocation kit just drops the rails 3" so that you can then mount the tonneau cover rails on the bed using the clamps.

OP said they already have a tri-fold with the relocation brackets, so was asking if they could keep those brackets or do they have to sell those brackets with the cover. If they can keep them then they can just order a cover for non-cargo rails trucks like you said.

Ah, thanks for the clarification! So, to answer the OP's question, if the kit that lowered your rails dropped them at least 3" then you should be fine. You need at least 3" to work the clamps into place and tighten the cover's rails.

The Retrax cover will mount without using the rail, allowing you to do whatever you like with the railing location.

Haven't installed it (yet), but it seems the TracRac SR system only uses 1 bolt that goes through each of the stake pockets. Should not be affected by any retractable cover. As dlos said, the american roll cover from truck covers usa has an add on from Yakima that works directly with their rails. I put the american roll cover on this weekend but cant justify spending the money on their rack. Will be looking on CL for a TracRac TracOne system (there are lots) and swapping the feet out to work with TracRac SR rails. Replacement feet that work with TracRac SR rails can be purchased on e trailer.

What cost are you seeing for the rack system from Truck Covers? I purchased all of it directly from them for $225+$40 shipping.

Everywhere I've seen (real truck and auto anything) have the rack for ~$975. I misunderstood earlier. I was describing a full rack (Truck Covers USA American Truck Rack) not the yakima rack. I guess the original poster will have the clarify if he is looking for a small rack that only goes about the cover or a full rack that clears the roof.

Looking back, not even sure if the OP is looking for a rack, but this should serve as good information for someone else looking.
