    HEY GUYS -

    A/C COMPRESSOR ISSUES -

Looking for your feedback, direction, help, suggestions, videos, links ...

After rolling through an unusually cold and wet Dallas Winter with no need or attention to the A/C we have recently realized on a slightly warmer day of Spring we have no A/C available.

Bought the Toyota for the storied Toyota Quality ... *BUT* ... at least here regarding the A/C not so much ...

    Thanks Everyone !!!

    T-Rex -

Thanx for asking and the welcome!

Been following you guys for the last 3 years before joining today. You guys do a brilliant job here in facilitation, maintenance, access, and an excellent opportunity for people to exchange ideas, share experiences, and generally learn new things in a generally upbeat and positive public site.

SHOCK AND AWE - [but not in a good way]

Regarding the A/C - Actually since it is still only 2 years old - NO, I have not charged, checked, or otherwise attended to the A/C yet. Honestly - I am still is such a state of shock at what in my historic experience of Decades of Texas Heat, Literally Dozens of Vehicles and work trucks of mostly domestic, mostly several years old, and 100,000 miles and over with Z E R O , NO, A/C Issues ... ever .... after years of service in the Brutal Texas Heat ... just so stinkin frustrated with my new [ish] Toyota Tundra. .... RANT Over - Hahahahaaaa!!!!

I have only done a few quick internet searches, you tube etc to see if I could find some further issue or patterns with the Tundra/A/C/Compressor/ Weak Link commonality unfold - and I did not see it jump out at me - mostly all older models of several years of service, and well over 100,000 miles and certainly NO CLEAR PATTERNS. or Information that would lead me to a quick and easy fix like - OH YEAH - CHECK THIS FUSE - IT ALWAYS FAILS THE COMPRESSOR SWITCH - OR RELAY ETC ...

T H A T - that would at least be quick, cheap, easy to address and repair - the other options are all pretty much living in the "Big Suck" of dollars, time, work, and ... really damn it - on a 2016 model I have this kind of major component failure thoughts !!!

Looking forward to more great feedback and direction from the awesome and usually well informed and of good humor members here !

    Thanx Again T !

My 2013 Tacoma started struggling somewhat to cool at idle on days at 90+. This was at about 2-1/2 years but well mileage on warranty. It took a little bit of Freon to bring it back up to full charge. I checked the hose connections at the compressor and they tightened up about 1/8 to 1/4 turn. When I sold it 2 years later it was still cooling fine. I would guess you are just low on Freon. Now if you are not cooling on a 78 degree day at hwy speeds you may have other problems or a bigger leak.
