So I am kinda new to the Tundra world, I have a 2010 with the 5.7 in it. I am used to vehicles that when you start them up the idle may go up a bit but then settles right away. On my Tundra the idle goes up but then stays there until it warms up. I am curious if this is normal or not? The high idle concerns me because it takes a bit for oil pressure to come up and properly lubricate things like the main bearings. Thanks for an info in advance....oh, no engine codes.

If it's around 1200 rpm or so, that's normal

I have an '07 Limited with the 5.7L and have what I consider a high idle (not normal). When cold it starts out about 1,500rpm (slow to idle down) and around 700-800rpm at operating temperature. Also, when the AC cycles on there is a 200rpm increase, then idles back down once the AC cycles off. A couple months back I cleaned the battery posts and for a few days the cold idle started around 1,200rpm (idled down quicker than usual), at temperature about 500rpm and very little change when the AC cycled on. It was short lived though. It was not the first time the battery was disconnected, just the only time it seemed to affect the issue. I bought the truck new in '07 and has only 25,000 miles on it. There are no trouble lights, gas mileage is near the rated range. This has been going on for quite some time. Otherwise the throttle is responsive, no complaints there.
