New member here, not yet an owner but doing my research and getting ready to purchase. We're a family of five, we do a lot of skiing, rafting, kayaking, camping all around the pacific northwest. I've looked a bit around the site and you guys totally rock, it's amazing the amount of help offered and the sense of community. I'll be asking several questions soon to pick yer brains!

Get the crew max if there's five. Get the 5.7 liter. 4x4. SR5 if your going to upgrade the suspension and rims. Gas mileage - 13 to 17 unless you drive the truck like you just stole it. If your worried about gas mileage buy a Ford with the aluminum body and little 2.7 litter eco boost. If you want a truck that you can pull something with or work out of get the 5.7 Tundra. Don't ask about the small V8 because no body wants them.

I'm interested in purchasing a truck that is dependable and will be in our family for a long time. My wife wants a Tundra, who am I to disagree? :)
I'm leaning toward purchasing a used truck, maybe 2 years (if it's an amazing deal) but more likely 4-5 years old given the strong resale value or Tundras. Definitely going with the 5.7L and 4x4. Considering a shell or tonneau. As for trim, I'm undecided. After purchasing the truck there won't be much disposable income to make mods or upgrades, and of course if buying used it can be hit or miss on what upgrades the previous owner made to their truck.
