New to the forum but been lurking and reading quite a bit. I have a 2012 Double Cab that is stock and I'm ready to make some changes. I'd like to do a suspension lift and level it out in the process. I'm not looking to do anything major, something in the range of 3". I'm not looking to get too spendy but want to do it right. I live in CO and hunt in the mountains, but that is the extent of my off-road. I also have a 2 horse bumper pull trailer, so I occasionally haul my horses around. I've been looking at the Toytec options, such as the boss. It still has the stock wheels and currently has 275/65/R18 tires.
    1. If I go with a 3" coil over, is that boss kit a good option?
    2. Do I need to change the upper control arm? What are the pros/cons of changing it?
    3. If I stay with the stock wheels, what is the largest tire I can go to without major trimming?
    4. Will I need spacers?
Thanks in advance - great forum!

I run the boss kit with aftermarket UCA’s for better alignment.

Nice looking truck! If I'm trying to do this as a staged approach to space out the spend, can I do the aftermarket UCA's a little bit down the line, or am I just creating additional work that will make me wish I just bit the bullet?

Toytec has two UCA's listed as options with the kit, any recommendations between those - SPC and Total Chaos?

Are the lights and light bar installed by fab tech with the bumper or is that a separate item you added later. What type and brand lights/lightbar is in the bumper? Thx

    1. BOSS coilovers are a great option for the daily driver/ weekend warrior style driver. The BOSS brand is our brand, so what we did was paired up with the engineering team at Eibach to build each shock and valve it specificity for the Tundra. Threaded shock bodies for ease of ride height adjustments (1-3''), double zinc coated shock bodies along with larger 5/8th'' shock shafts for increase performance and durability!

    2. Upper control arms are always a good recommendation to insure proper alignment spec the first time without having any issues. There are quite a few out there on the market right now, but what we have seen work the best for Tundra's either the SPC Adjustable arms, or the Total Chaos arms. The SPC arms are more designed for the daily driver and the Chaos arms are designed more for the off road enthusiast. Both great products and extremely durable overall.

3/4. Tire size, can't really say honestly, I have seen people stuff up to a 35'' tire on our systems but that does require a pair of upper control arms along with wheel spacers (if you are running factory wheels).

Shoot me a pm or a call anytime if you have any questions or sales team is on stand-by ready to answer whatever question you want to throw out way!

    Thanks

    -David

I went this route on my Tundra and i have been a happy camper. I had total chaos uca's on my tacoma for probly 9 years, they were always squeaking unless i sprayed them down with triflow, was just a real pain.

I wouldn't worry about trimming either, there is nothing to it. I did it myself with a grinder and never had them boxed back in on either of my trucks. I drove them like that for probly 185,000 miles with no issues.
I have 35's on my Tundra and had 285's on my tacoma. I had icon's on my tacoma and kings on my tundra, like them both alot. in the rear i had / have wheelers aal and icon shocks, but the cheaper non resi ones, been fine and happy.
