So... good friend of mine gave me a 50" single row LED light bar.

He had it on top of the windshield for SEMA and took it off and gave it to me..

I do not want a light bar above my windshield.

    Question..
Has anyone installed a light bar on the back of the truck bed?

Would the 3rd break light have enough "juice" to power the light bar?

Thanks in advance.. i'll get some pictures up when i get home.

Not for a 50" with the 3rd brake light. Will need to run new wires. Can pick up a nice harness with relay and fuse and switch for under $20. Better to be safe than sorry.

@1UPPER had 1 mounted in the back of his bed

I think the wires feeding the third brake light will be too small for the amps that your light bar will draw. What is the wattage of the light bar? You'll likely want to run a fused dedicated power feed

Beat me to it and I agree with you. Wires would overheat and :bananadead:

I had a feeling the 3rd light wouldnt work.. thanks for the confirmation!

I'd love to see a bar mounted to the back of bed and hear some feedback on the pros and cons.

    I'll order a harness.

Were you thinking of using the cargo light as a trigger/switch? You could, just find the wire behind the switch or kick panel, and tap it to trigger your relay. Then when you turn your cargo light on the light bar will come on, nice for tailgaters too!

    Flux capacitor!
You can order a light bar mount from Rago that will mount into your stock bed rail system. This makes the install easy and clean. You will need to run a new power wire, fuse holders, relay, ground wire and a switch.
