What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

I still have the cassette holder in the console as well. I think most folks tossed them to create more storage room.

 

Yes. I forgot about that cassette holder. Little slots. I tossed that right away, as I had a large cassette suitcase in the back seat. Needed that top console room for random stuff.

 

Did a 10.5 gallon fill up to top it off. Drove about 120 miles all city driving stop and go with 30 of those miles towing. Lots of idle time. Some 4x4 road exercise. O/D on and off testing, etc.

Pretty good considering this type of driving used to yield 9-10 mpg

Looking at long road trip possibly soon and will have the full spectrum to make a final conclusion. So far, I’d say the new injectors are saving about 15%+/- gas volume. Is it because the injectors are clean? Or, the extra 8 holes for better explosion? Or, the gearing adjustment from the computer and new injectors?

Since working on my truck isn't possible thanks to FUCKING WINTER!!!!, I'm making a list of maintanence items I need/want to do this spring. My truck turned 14 years old this year, so I want to head off everything I can before I run into problems. Hopefully, all this will keep the truck problem free until I can pull the trigger on a newer one.

Front steering and suspension components. All Moog parts if possible:

- Upper and lower ball joints.
- Inner and outer tie rods
- Steering rack bushings

Body parts. TYC brand, NSF certfied:

- Headlamp assemblies
- Side marker assemblies
- Fog light assemblies
- Touch up paint

I'm sitting at about $800 CAD in my Rock Auto cart at the moment. LOL.

Anything I'm missing/should do? Biggest area of focus is the front end stuff.

 

What about changing the differential breather (& relo. mod.)? Read a couple of leaking axle seals, clogged breather stories lately.

Replaced the TRD stickers, $20 upgrade made the pickup look a whole lot cleaner.

Ugh. Nonstop. Might as well do the new gears and all 4 bearings too!

 

Installed the SuperNova v.4 LED fog lamps.

Clean white fog look makes the ‘white Sylvania’ head lamps look yellow(er) than they were when new. It think the gas that makes those bulbs ‘white’ has burned off.

Back to the fogs: Its still daylight so hard to tell the brightness change, but seems somewhat brighter (lumens).

 

Here is the reflection off the garage door. Fogs look to be the same beam pattern with a definite color change and some extra brightness.

The headlamps seem to be more intense now for some reason? Nothing was done to them other than removal to access fog assys and reinstall.

I’m torn between adding factory fogs when I’m done (wiring is there) or doing led fog lights like rigid of Baja designs.

 

probably just the way the camera picked up the lighting and adjusted.

 

I like the factory look. Plus, its easy just changing out a bulb. The aftermarkets look like too much work and too square peg in oval hole looking. Go OEM!

Got the camper removed today so I could clean up the front windows and try to work on filling the gaps. This thing leaks like the Titanic. Honestly, I'm a little worried it leaks so bad that I won't be able to use it to sleep in. I wish I had held out for an Access Cab shell.

Truck looks naked without it now.

and custom brackets to try and make them not look too out of place (im doing a black bumper so shouldnt be too hard... now if i go custom on the bumper then BD is my only choice.. depends on what i can get a new factory style bumper for vs making a bumper)

 

Well I drove it on it's first big trip this weekend. About 4 hours each way. Wheeled it for the first time. I had a blast with my Texas Toyota Coalition bros.
I hope someone got some good pics or video of my truck in beast mode. This thing just walked up or down 90% of the obstacles I tried. I had a little bit of trouble with some but got em eventually. The video paired with LSD in 4wd is just torque city. Tight turns are your biggest enemy.

That's maybe a 3rd of all the yoters we had together.
