As some of you know I previously posted a thread on the trailer brake controller error contact dealer message that popped up on my dash and won’t go away. I haven’t unplugged the battery yet as I’ve been sick. So I can still do that first. The dealer told me to unplug it and if it doesn’t go away bring it in. The message still shows up several days later. Since I don’t tow anything other than a boat trailer that doesn’t have brakes can’t I just unplug my factory controller? If so will that get rid of the message or will it give me a new problem.

When you disconnect the IBC it will pop the same message but when members have done this they say disconnect the battery and then the message will go away. Members have gone to aftermarket brake controllers due to the lack of braking power offered by the IBC and have the factory disconnected.

So disconnect it, unplug battery, and it should be good? Or should I try unplugging battery first
