You ever do anything monumentally stupid? I got distracted while holding a shock and I guess I wasn’t thinking and stuck it in the vise to hold itwhile I took care of something. Didn’t use the shaft clamp which I own because you never ever ever ever put a shock shaft in a vise. EVER. GOSH DANG IT! I’m so pissed at myself. I don’t know what I was thinking at all. Stupid stupid stupid. Gotta call king now on Monday and get a new one on the way. STUPID!!!! And a waste of money. $/@&!”$3:

Yes I have, we all have.

A friend of mine bought a new expensive rifle for an elk hunt out west. Spent a ton of money on the rifle and the hunt. Day 1 they go out on horseback through the mountains and his rifle falls out of the scabbard at some point. Realizes it a few hours later. Never found it.

Had to borrow a rifle, still got a huge elk. Life goes on.

Cheer up, drink a beer. Enjoy life!

Nope, none of us have ever done anything like that....

Pretty easy to replace. My 14” 7/8 shaft was 58.00.

To reseal, new shock oil and shaft was like 130.00 to do myself.

Sucks your so far away, you could come over, drink beers, and laugh about this issue.

Maybe one of the guys in TX will offer to help you rebuild it.

How bad is it? If it was only tight enough to hold the shock, it may not be that deep. (As opposed to holding it while wrenching). A series of sand paper grits could blend it out. Yes it will burn through the hard coating, but it might be ok, especially if it's near the bottom rod end.

I sand nicks out of my dirt bike fork tubes all the time. Common practice. No premature leaks.

    Not nearly enough room here!
I just retired in December. 50 years working for a paycheck....it was time I guess. Now, if I would've had a dollar for every time I did something stupid, I could've retired YEARS ago!:amen:

Ok. I slept. Not so pissed now. No the shaft is definitely trashed. It’s crazy, I didn’t tighten on it at all (I didn’t think). And it’s right in the middle of it too. It was already all apart getting rebuilt at the time so at least it’s not the end of the world. Just need a new shaft and I can slap it together. Oh well. Thanks for the kind words.

At least the other one went together ok. All rebuilt and clean and ready to go back on the truck.

Total bummer on the shaft. Doesn’t take much does it?
