Morning everyone. This may or may not be the proper forum but here goes. I have been wanting a Tundra for a few years now and I am now able to purchase one. The vehicle is a 2017 Tundra SR5 with 28,743 miles. The dealer is asking $6,449 below market. This has me worried. The initial website, Cargurus, states that the vehicle has no accidents or damage reported. The vehicle is at an actual Ford dealer and in another town 62 miles away. I drove the truck and everything seems fine. My bank said they would run a carfax report on it. I dont want to buy someone else's problem. Screenshot_20190223-182351_Samsung Internet.jpg

I know the pic states 5 miles away, that's inaccurate. Stupid cargurus wont save my zip.

In my neck of the woods. Short-Redmond tends to be on the cheaper side but will not really haggle. They use auto check and just by looking at the details, it was on a 2 year lease program. The lease was up and the truck was returned, then sold at auction. Looks like they bought it at an auction.

Truck is still eligible for full Toyota warranty that you can purchase from a contact on here, look it up. You could get full 7 year 125k factory warranty if you would like for a little cost for peace of mind.

I looked at a 1794 they had 4 months ago that was pretty cheap. Would not budge a $ on price, but the truck had been in a wreck and no one knew how severe as it was bought at an auction also.

From a distance that checks out and looks to be a good price.

    Welcome from NY.
Looks like a great deal, probably was on a 2 year lease. See if they would put it up on the lift and let you look underneath to see if you notice anything new or bent.
I just think it was a lease and they bought it for about $27,000.
    Hopefully the Carfax is clean.

That looks like a good deal.
I was in the same boat, I hadn't bought a used vehicle in a 20 years so I had some concerns when I found my '17. As long as everything checks out you will be fine, you can even take it to a mechanic you trust to have it looked over. One thing that I looked for but wasn't necessarily a requirement was buying from a Toyota dealership that was selling the truck as a certified pre-owned and that's what I found.
Good luck, looks like a nice truck.

@Dark0ampoule have your insurance company pull one. Before I got my new one I looked at a demo that the sale manager was driving. Call about to see how much insurance was and they called me back with a a quote and stated that I needed GAP insurance also do to the it was in a wreck and the insurance company will only cover what the truck is worth now due to the wreck.

My bank has offered me the GAP insurance and I plan on making some calls tomorrow. All the Toyota dealerships are closed today. Thanks.

According to AutoCheck by Experian, it was leased and a fleet vehicle. No reported wrecks or damage.

The reason they offered me gap on another truck cause it is wrecked. Your insurance company should pull the car fax. Good luck

    Update:
I got the truck. Toyota of Knoxville said the truck had warranty work this past Nov. and also oil change and tire rotation. I assume that they would have done a normal inspection of the vehicle. With that said, after buying the truck and driving back to Knoxville, I stopped by a gas station and as I applied the brakes I heard a clunk and then the brakes sounded like they were grinding. I pulled into a parking spot and backed up, no noise. I pulled back up and the same 2 noises happened again. It being 7 PM, the dealer was closing. I called them and told them what was going on and they told me to bring it in tomorrow. I felt the rotor on the outside and it felt smooth. Tomorrow I will feel the inside of the rotor. I posted to the brake discussion as well.

Ok, I took the truck back to the dealership. When u called them last night they instructed me to bring it back so they could look at it. The tech got in and asked me to explain what was going on. I told him. We didn't even make out of the parking lot, literally he backed up heard noise and then drove forward and applied the brakes. The truck sounded even worse than last night. He said oh yeah, I'm gonna let out here and pull it straight into the service area.

I got a great deal on a Toyota from a Honda lot many years ago. Most likely (as was the case for me on the Honda lot) the Ford lot took it as a trade-in & just want to get it off the lot. Nobody goes to a Ford lot looking for a Toyota, so they want to move it off....now. Thus, the low price.
What I would do, is take the truck to a local garage (preferably not close to the dealer...so you know they're not in cahoots with each other) and have the garage do a pre-buy inspection for you. Prob cost under a hundred bucks. But WORTH the peace of mind that you're buying a used vehicle in good shape. I paid for pre-buy inspections for most of my used car purchases & it never let me down. The dealer should have no problem at all with you taking the vehicle for that inspection. I've done it several times & told them what I'm doing. If they do have a prob, walk away - there's likely something wrong with it, or they're morons. If they're morons...hopefully they'll call you back.

Just read the rest of thread & saw you bought it. I'd still take it to a garage & have them do an inspection on it as soon as you can...after they fix your brakes. If something turns up in the inspection, take it back to Ford & hopefully they'll repair it.

Update: The lead guy in the service department said that they resurfaced the rotors, put new pads on the front and greased the rods or shims. (Pretty sure he said rods) He stated that they were causing the pads to stick. Everything else has checked out the vehicle. Only time will tell, but damn I sure do like this truck.

Sorry you are having issues. Hard to believe the brakes are in that bad of condition with given miles. Guessing CarFax showed no brake work?

Hopefully get over this hump and be able to enjoy it afterwards. :)

It may be too late, but i would try to get new rotors vs having them turned. The pins were probably jamming the pad into the rotor somehow..

Anyways, turned rotors tend to warp quicker than virgin rotors.

I say haggle with them and see how much room there is. Last summer I bought a 2014 Limited Rav4 for my daughter list price was $16k. They wanted $16 plus another $1500 for a bunch of dealer add ons like nitrogen, windshield protection extra. I wanted to get out there for $14k which is what I offered in email. They started whining that the reason for the dealer add ons is there is not a lot of margin in the vehicle without them and I called BS. I ended up paying $14.5 with the add ons. Anything less and I was walking because that was it. Don't know if they would have called me a day or a week later but did not want to let it get away. Daughter liked it and was exactly what I was looking for. Glad I checked the radio because it was dead. They had to replace on their dime.
