Hey just fyi, I dont know if you still have your bumper shim kit or not. But if u do dont get rid of them yet. I just got off my cell speaking to Dave Elkstrom aka coachbuilder, the owner. He's in the process of contacting his parts people to see if he can switch out the hardware and still make it work to be able to use the shims with the sso bumper and other aftermarket winch bumpers without sacrificing safety or performance.

He's thinking and perhaps u can confirm or deny, if he replaces both the thicker washer and flanged nut with smaller more dense nuts and washers it might work. He mentioned how the nut for the crash bar is a thick flanged nut that takes a good amount of space. Hes thinking if he replaces that with a more dense and stronger nut that isn't as thick, along with the same for the washer, basically for guys like us replacing the hardware with an upgraded hardware kit it can still be used. He wants to be able to fully thread the nut on the stud.

Based on your experience trying to fit both or even just 1 shim, do you think this could work if the hardware provided by him was at a fraction of the standard thickness, yet even harder and more dense than the originally supplied hardware.

I'm working with him on this to benefit both of us, and guys like us who want to run aftermarket bumpers that bolt to the studs of the factory crash bar, yet still be able to get that extra half inch clearance in the bumper for larger tires. Let me know what u think, if u think it could work or not, based upon your recent experience trying to fit and seeing those clearances firsthand not long ago. I will return the favor letting you know what Dave and I come up with to hopefully solve this issue. Tia. Fingers crossed.

Got the shifter still waiting on the boot. It does feel much better than the factory Tundra shifter for sure. Cant wait to get the boot installed.

Still have the CB shims. That's awesome David is trying to find a work around to use these shims with aftermarket bumpers. Right now, I will leave my bumper alone since it is well secured to the mounting points and actually "customized" the front inner fender pretty good. It looks like it came from the factory that way. Just a little trimming and massaging with a heat gun.

Anyway, if David finds an alternative to the heavy duty flange nuts, that would be great. But I actually only see you using 1 shim with changing the flange nut. If I recall (correct me if I am wrong), 1 shim = .25" forward. And by changing the tires to 35s, I experienced rubbing on reverse full lock only (since i did a BMC and did not have to worry about body mount). With that said, I really do not think .25" would help and you still have to fix the inner front fender. Especially, if you go an extreme offset with your wheels (+20 or less) and ofcourse depending on your lift.

I would personally reuse the OEM flange nuts or SSOs flange nuts that came with the bumper and trim/adjust the inner fender just for my peace of mind. But then again David has been doing this a long time and might come up with a solution.

I don’t think you can fit the three pieces inside the cab, but I’ve never tried. I’ve taken my DB off twice ever since I first installed it last November. It takes me a few minutes to remove it all and store it at home when I have to haul something big and tall. While the initial install took about 30 or so minutes, it now takes me about 10 minutes to reinstall. I can see how others may not want to have to periodically remove and reinstall their’s, but for me it’s no big deal and absolutely worth the added security and strength of having such a great, functional cover.

Right now I have 295/70r18. 2 inch factory trd pro lift with 2 shims giving an extra inch up front. Since I have pro rims now with 1.25 spacer I didnt need bmc, just massaged the inner fender liner, still looks OEM. But that's why I wanted the bumper shim. U are correct, each plate gives 1/4", so 2 together moves it forward a half. I'm gonna do a bmc so will be good there. But since I'm going with 35×12.5r17 pitbull rockers on methods w/ 0 offset, I rather not cut the shit out my bumper. I'm hoping I can squeeze them in with just the bmc, but that extra 1/4 or 1/2 could mean the difference between trimming liners more, doing nothing, or cutting the shit out them. Guess we'll see what Dave comes up with.

Been a bit since last upgrade. Been slammed with work, but managed to get the Coachbuilder Pro kit installed with front bumper shim. Some interior/exterior tufskinz. Added the NSV Gen 1 lightbar, Undercover ArmorFlex trifold. Replaced the interior exterior bulbs.

Still need to add the fender flares and sway bar. Good thing its the weekend.

Put these BBS Forged 2019 TRD Pro wheels and Michelin AT2 tires on. Much better looking! Rides smoother and better traction. Little bit louder but not very much. AD720E65-9687-4664-92F0-FA8E11C96933.jpgBDC7BFC5-D65C-4BB6-89C6-C2D24A9FFD9B.jpg

No, there will be no need for wheel spacers with the 0 offset. That offset will have more than enough negative offset, slightly more than I even prefer. I think that offset imo looks a tad too aggressive for my taste without flares.

However, due to running fender flares I feel I have no choice but to run that offset to get a nice aggressive stance. My current setup would have a perfect stance without the flares. Anywhere from a +35 to +18 looks great without flares. With the flares I think a +7 to slightly below zero looks great. Unfortunately theres not many options for rims with a very low positive offset. Therefore zero it is.

I will be selling the spidertrax 1.25 spacers assuming I like my new setup when I get it on and test it out. My buddy @Jim LE 1301 will have 1st dibs on the wheel spacers. After that, it's up in the air.

If I was you I'd strongly recommend u hold off on the bumper shims for now. At least until Dave Elkstrom and I figure out if the bumper shims can even be used with the sso bumper. Besides, with the 295s on my current setup I wouldn't need the bumper shims. On my current setup they are unnecessary. All I needed to do was rework the fender liner, barely any cutting and it looks absolutely perfect like stock.

I'd be wasting my money on them if I did that with what I have now even without the sso bumper. Besides I've been told by another member here that he tried the bumper shims and could barely get 1 of the 2 on. Even then wasnt comfortable with the amount of thread he got from the nut on the stud once he pulled off the factory crash bar.

Dave and I are working on it as we speak and I should know more very soon. Will keep everyone posted on what we come up with in finding out if his bumper shims can be used with the sso bumper, or many other aftermarket bumpers that attach there. After speaking last night we came up with possibly substituting the original hardware. The new washers and nuts will be much more dense. A much higher grade washer and nut. It will be stronger than the original hardware, yet take up much less space ie harder and thinner. Were hoping both can be used while fully threading the nut onto stud. If I was to guess now, using that method, at the very least, out of the two 1/4" shims for a total .5 clearance, at least 1 of those will be able to be used at least getting 1/4" additional forward bumper space. Fingers crossed we'll find a way, I really don't want to cut my bumper ends up.
