    Hello All,

I’m new here and this is my first truck ever and very excited about it. I’ve been reading a lot of great posts and viewing awesome truck photos which are giving me some great ideas on future mods.

Too my truck today to 4Wheel Parts to have new wheels (Method) and tires (BFG AT) installed. They also recommended a “spacer” to avoid any rub. I don’t know anything about trucks so I relied on their expertise.

Anyway, street drive felt pretty good. Got on the freeway up to 65MPH and felt a mild shake in the steering wheel and it was pulling to the right. Called 4WP immediately and they said they can fix the pull but the shake is due to several factors and is “normal”. They said the shake is due to the spacer and also the more aggressive tire that I put on and it will not feel like factory wheels. Is this right? I do realize having a different tire will give a different feel but not a steering wheel shake.

Sorry for the long 1st post. Thanks for any input.

A little of this and a little of that.
That's BS. They need to align it for the pull and the shake is from improper balancing

None! I tow a boat weekly
040Tundra got it right. The tires are out of Balance and the spacers have nothing to do with your alignment or wheel balance. You could even have a bad tire. Its easy to rotate the front tires to the rear and see what happens. Those TKO's should ride perfectly on that truck unless they are E rated..Then they will ride a little on the hard side. Nothing some air pressure adjustments cant fix..

I got the same thing, slight "drift" and a shake but not all the time on all roads. Frustrating as hell. Don't take crap from the dealer or the installer, you're a Tundra owner now, whip it out on them!
my wheels were dealer addon (after I negotiated price but that's another story) Can't get Toyota dealer to get the alignment right, think they are basing it on 18" wheels instead of 20".
Soon as I have some time I'm giving the toyota dealer one more shot and I'm paying local guy to look at it.

    Welcome from NY.

You need a wheel alignment and tires need to be rebalanced.

No your truck should roll out very nice with those bfgs I have the same tire but a 35 12.5 18 .And I have done 90 in my truck no problems. Is it really smart to do that no its not. But I have no issues with my tires I did have an issue with some old wheels they could never get ballanced right. So I took them back and got what I have now.

Thanks all for the input. I’ll be heading back there a little more informed to make them do it right.

Thanks! Wheels are 18x9 and tires are 285/65 x 18. The most mud these tires will see is from overwatering my garden.

If they just put a generic spacer on there that isn’t hubcentric, then most likely the spacer is causing the vibration. Take the spacers off and see if it’s still there. If it is, then the tires need to be rebalanced. Changing wheels and tires has no affect on it driving straight. Unless they severely under inflated one side. These guys sound incompetent and looking for any reason to pass the blame.
