So I installed my Gen 2 w/buttons Tesla style radio on my 2016 Platinum Tundra. I recorded all of the steps I used with the idea this could be a one stop shop for the complete setup with this version and model Tundra. Below is a link to those videos...I broke them up into parts.

You sir are gentleman and a scholar. This is going to help a lot of people out and save a lot of back and forth discussions .

 

Sucks because I don’t have Facebook so I can’t see any builds for 2nd Gen’s.

I’m really interested but not sure if it’s worth it for my 2nd Gen Tundra. Not sure of problems or any solutions to any.

 

Maybe see if a relative or coworker will log into it to get a taste.

 

Or. ... you could just set up a FB account yourself. If you end up not liking it then just delete it, no harm no foul.

 

I bought mine (07-10 version) and hooked it up yesterday and had no sound/no hvac. I called rhino radio and he walked me thru a few steps that failed and then said they were going on lunch and would call me back (5pmESt) then didn’t text me until after midnight. A few of the changes he had me do got my 4lo-4hi / slip lights flashing so I uninstalled it and put back my kenwood/idatalink meastro, anyone have any suggestions? The previous owner put In a sub/sub amp which worked fine with my current setup that I added but seemed to not work with this.

Is there anything big like this that’s for apple ???

 

I also use a iPhone, u just need a CarPlay dongle for the android unit and it’ll run CarPlay (free for orders placed durn Chinese New Year). So it’ll have phone/msm, Waze,google maps, play Apple Music, and a bunch of other offered on the app store

Not sure what u mean by Apple ready? CarPlay is Apple ready no? To the best of my knowledge , the Apple I know that waits 10yrs to update to allowing Waze on CarPlay only interfaces CarPlay?

 

I think he means a head unit with an interface that operates ENTIRELY like an iPhone/iPad iOS without a hint of Android, correct @Jsena? And technically, our Tesla Android head units are not even Apple / Carplay ready, since we have to use an accessory (the dongle).

 

Gotcha, cause to the best of my knowledge they’re is nothing that allows the App Store/Apple Music...or anything similar to what this unit does with android? So as a Apple user I see it as, use android stuff on here or have what I have now on my kenwood which is car play and mirroring without touchscreen

 

Exactly what I TRYING to say. Looking to upgrade head unit to look a lot More modern.. iPhone ish .. but bigger screen

 

I have seen f150’s, and other trucks with iPad holder that uses the iPad as a head unit. Would image a expensive option but assuming the iPad had a SIM card would be the ultimate headunit

Same one, they seem to not put a name with it as to limit the places that u can find it.

 

It's unfortunate Apple locks everything down so an iPad will never be able to physically interface with the truck. These 12" Android HU's have wire harnesses and operate the HVAC, hazard lights, and there's steering wheel control. They can be hard wired to the factory GPS antenna. You can easily play mp3's and mkv vids off interchangeable USB sticks what you can't do with an iPad, and here's old school SNES, attach some USB controllers lol

However, your install, customization and problem solving needs are best served in the facebook group. A few people there were ready to give up and return/sell, fb group members helped, fixed whatever issues those people couldn't figure out and turned them around to love their unit.

Looking at These , one model has the A/C Manuel buttons on the bottom and this newest one from trinity doesn’t have the A/C Manuel buttons. Only touch screen for A/C. Will this still work for SR5 models that have to manually turn ours on?? Anyone know when this deal ends?

 

Yeah im kinda wondering the same thing I'd like the 3 manual knobs
