JL Audio FiX 86 vs Audiocontrol Lc7i vs other

I just bought a 2019 Tundra Limited DC off-road package. Looking into adding a better sound system. I want to keep the stock head unit. Asking to see which OEM integration unit is best. All inputs are welcomed from getting after market head unit to get a Ford hahahaha kidding!!!

Two set of component systems (front and near)
Two 12" under the backseat
A five-channel amp

 

You can do this without either if you get an amp with high level inputs. I went this route and it sounds fine.

I got a pioneer gm-d9605 5 channel amp, morel 6 1/2 components in the front and rear, and 2 10" subs behind the seats in a 2017 cm.

If you get the harnesses it makes things a lot easier.

Yes if you are a non JBL HU high line input amps are all you need. This is the route I went with James in a full upgrade keeping the stock non JBL HU and should have it soon.

You can go straight to an amp as stated however you will still have to deal with the dirty signal that the HU puts out. That might bother you or not, kinda depends on the level of audiophile you are. I have an

$130 audiocontrol lc7i 6-channel line output converter with accubass

audiocontrol lc7i and sometimes that isn't clean enough for me during some tracks but it does the job for the most part if you take the time to tune it right and the rest of your setup is fine.

 

Thank you for your honesty! When you said "...isn't clean enough.." Do you mean the highs or mids or both?

 

A little on the highs. "S" sound gets a little distortion. Granted I have a high standard, imo, I run performance theater soundboards for work sometimes.

Hahahah love your last sentence!!! Yeah, I'm emailing James at the moment. I shot myself in the foot by asking the price of the a-pillar component speaker system. Buuuut I think my future boat might be mad at me right now ahaha.

It also utilizes the harnes Tubal noted in post #4
