I'm in the middle of researching an escape plan from my OME613 setup. I was pretty much settled in and ready to commit to ICON front and RXT rear leafs/shocks setup when I stumbled on this post and was a little "shocked" by the condition of those ICONS.

My question now is, how is ICON/FOX/KING/ETC holding up for you guys that have had them for several years or more? Is that pretty typical of ICON or any of the coilover mfr products after several years?

It all depends on how you take care of them, I had Icons on my Tacoma and I used their coilover covers and washed them almost every week and they looked practically new once I pulled them out.

    Keep them clean.

Icon and fox hold up very well. Ive had icons for 8 years that look better than those in the picture

I have icons extended coil overs for rcd 6”lift. Started leaking after 1 year they would not replace under warranty, purchased new ones and also purchased coilover wraps to protect them, they all wear out

Good feedback. I was considering those ICON coil covers as well, don't see them used much and wondered why not.

Icons are supposed to be good shocks, can’t figure out why they leaked after such short time. I took real good care of them

Crap happens. Shaft could have got dinged or dirty and messed up the seal. Cost like $60 for a seal kit. Not an enormous deal. Just a pita.

Personally I think the icon bodies are more durable than the king ones. My advice to everybody is put that 3M clear bra on your shock bodies as soon as you buy them. Then they won’t corrode.
