Rear Diff Not Centered

Hello everyone,I noticed that the passenger rear tire sticks out more that driver rear tire. I have a 2006 DC with KO2 285/70R17. Is this normal on first gens?

 

I know that’s the way it is on my 2.5 gen.

 

Not normal, but fixable.
1)Make sure there is nothing keeping the wheels from fitting flush. (Clean around the hub and brake rotor mount and inspect.)

2) make sure the bed is aligned (harder then the first step of it is not straight)

3) if all that checks out, make sure your suspension and drive line are not bent. You can get new Ubolts and shift the axle what ever direction you need.

 

Go check your truck. Ours are off-center. I centered my bed and it’s still off a little bit.

 

Go measure other Tundras. Heck, go measure any other truck you see. Pretty common.

I don't lose sleep over that kind of stuff if everything else checks out. Now the drivers side lean, that drove me nutz.

 

The driveshaft spends 99.999% of it’s time twisting in one direction. I’ll bet over time this bends things a little right?

 

It’s twisting the axle or rotating it but not side to side.

 

Forget the bed to tire.

Measure from frame to tire instead, if possible measure from frame to the backing plate where your drum brakes are, then from frame to where your inner tire edge starts to see if there is a difference.

If that checks out, then measure from frame to bed and this will tell you if the bed is offset, if so just live with it.

 

I measured from the frame to the tire and the passenger side is further out. I’ll take to the shop that installed the suspension have them check it out. If everything is ok I can live with it. I did not notice it until I began to measure to have a shop make me slider since ordering a pair and having ship to Puerto Rico would cost me a lot more

 

My buddy had a 2010 DC I believe and I remember he noticed this exact thing when he put aftermarket wheels and tires on- the garage was like “look at this” when it was on the lift. Seems pretty common.
