For $210 you get left and right, component speakers for front and rear, so all 4 doors. They are hertz k170 components, so each door will get a mid woofer and a tweeter with this set up.
For $110 you get left and right dash speakers. These are infinity reference 3.5" speakers. And you also get a new center channel "speaker" which is made up of 2 JL audio tweeters mounted on a custom bracket that bolts right in.

I wish the 3.5 were Hertz as well..Might just buy the center channel speakers instead and change the 3.5 myself...

For the non JBL folks, James recommended the following two 5 channel amps when I asked: JBL 4505 and JL rd900/5

I originally had a 4 channel amp, but with the sub GB I bought a 5 channel for it.

Idk why they aren't, maybe cost prohibitive? Maybe the infinity sound better? Maybe they fit the best? There must be a good reason though.

Cost. They're around $30 cheaper. Understandable. I just have military uniformity engrained in me.

    TEXAS!

thx husky. i'll be doing more research for sure after my sub install this weekend. it'll most likely involve some email exchange with james...

btw... absolutely love the PNW... used to travel there for work several times a yr in mid 2000's. worked for a subsidiary of weyerhauser. spent much time in federal way and seattle. UW campus and the views of Mt. Rainier are spectacular; very much appreciated, being from flat ass SE texas.

could never time my being there with fb season; would have loved a UW or seahawk home game. did watch the mariners host redsox in safeco around '06.

James is super helpful, he’ll steer you towards the right products, and you can’t beat his pricing and customer service.

I’ve moved away from Seattle twice, only to find myself back here and now with a family, I don’t see myself leaving. It’s a tough place to beat if you can figure out how to get over the grey days. For me, it’s skiing... Summers are unbeatable here, but we try not to tell too many people that.

Anyone wondering what the price was for the full speaker set (all doors and dash), 5 channel amp and DSR1, plus wire kit for amp it was just shy of $950 shipped (this is with the GB discount on the door speakers). I already purchased the JBL subwoofer deal before I joined the forum....$199.99. I've seen offerings to just add a powered double subwoofer in enclosure for $1200 and they say that is the fix. Probably sounds good but with James you get ALL speakers replaced and a 5 channel amp. The DSR1 takes care of potential "hiss" and fixes the signal from the head unit. The DSR1 is the key to replacing the original 440 amp in the premium JBL factory system. The only "new" wiring required is running a single fused 4 gauge wire thru the passenger side firewall to the battery. The new amp mounts where the old amp was, under the front passenger seat. The front dash speaker replacement requires a splice or two from what James told me but everything else uses existing OEM wiring. James is offering the GB now, so I don't think he is waiting for the magic number of 24 orders. I ordered everything yesterday. James will pm an invoice to you that lists everything I mentioned with a PayPal link. Can't select a la carte on his website. Tell your significant other it's a Valentines Day gift and play a love song after you hook it up. Go get it.

(P.S. I asked about sound proofing - if you are nuts about it or your truck seems prone to road noise, maybe worth considering but an expert told me the added benefit is minimal - and what a pita to install. I'm going without it but I'm one of those people who didn't think the original system was all that horrible until I started reading this forum's posts. YMMV.)

I would add to my previous post....and I'm nowhere near a PHD in audio, James will pre-set your DSR1 to your vehicle so when you get it, all you need to do is use your smart phone to dial it in after installation. $15 to do the pre-set, you can do yourself - there are a few you tube videos on that out there. For $15, it seemed like a good deal to me and it will be RTG when it arrives. The Hertz speakers come with in-line crossovers. Crutchfield has a detailed write up on the differences between Active, Passive and In-line crossovers. I went with the expert's advice that the In-line crossover is all I need in the new system I'm getting. The DSR1 takes over any fine tuning between speaker components and you can adjust to your heart's content using your smart phone. I know it's iPhone compatible and I think Android too. Just one more thing to check before ordering. I have an iPhone so no worries here.

quick question.....I am far from a audio guy and installation of stereo components are definitely not my strong suit. I purchased the sub on the group buy and it looks straight forward and will tackle that the weekend when I receive it. But ripping apart my dash and doors seems a little above my skill level as I have never done it before. Its it something a normal idiot can do? LOL I don't want to buy all these upgrades and not be able to install them of even worse go to someone and ask to install them when I haven't bought the speakers from them personally.

Can do, and even offer my take on levels of cost for anyone trying to decide.

I plan on doing the sub install and first impressions.
Speakers all the way around next. Second impressions.
Finally the new amp and DSR1. Third and final impressions.

    That's the plan anyways.

    You can do it!
Watch the taco tunes videos on YouTube. Hardest part of install is pulling the door panel, and that's not bad at all.

To GTG - google ********* and there are videos on how to remove Tundra door panels. Or, just google "remove Tundra door panel". It's not technically challenging and as long as you take your time there should be no issues. Some of the video tutorials are very detailed....I don't do anything these days without watching 3 or 4 videos...especially the ones where mistakes are made. Looks like a neoprene "panel tool" or two is a big help...especially preventing scratches in the Tundra plastic. Tundra is new to me but I hear the interiors scratch easily. Metal tools are not recommended for prying or pulling. Amazon (or Auto Zone/PepBoys etc) is your friend here for purchasing a variety of panel tools and plastic clip pullers.

I spoke to James today and he told me I needed the sail panels for the tweeters since I have a non jbl system. I see them on the site, but failed to ask where the wires come from for the tweeters. Are they already in the door panels or is it something I need to add and if so how difficult will that be?
I am assuming they replace the plastic triangular piece at the top of the door panel

It's really not to bad at all. I was nervous the first time I took my door panel off. It went very well and there are a few great YouTube videos on how to do it. Also ********* has some great videos (with eye candy included) on how to install speakers in a tundras door. You should be fine with minimal skill and experience

The wires for the tweeters should be connected to the speakers you bought. I think they are pre wired to the mid range woofer that goes in the door. You'll just run the wires up the door and behind the sail panel. The crossover is built in to the tweeter wire so there no big box to have to mount which is nice.

Paid and in on the GB! Full door and dash package. Talked to james and ended up buying a full system with Sub box. Approx. 1 Week lead on JL 10" loaded sub box. Considered OEM+ and Taco tunes but in the end this GB and discussing my needs with James proved that Tech12Volts was a no brainer for my application. Thx OP!

    Question...
For the $320, you get four sets of door speakers (mid-range woofer and tweeter) as well as the special dual center speaker and the right and left individual dash speakers?
The sails for the door tweeters are obviously an extra cost.

Did we get a answer for the impedance mismatch? Or is the next group buy going to be a mastro ar and 5 channel amp
