I’ll preface this question with an acknowledgement that Icon makes a very very good product, and their rxt shocks are probably as good as all the Icon products I’ve run and currently use.

That said, I’m brainstorming what other shock options would work with their rxt springs. With the ability to give 4 inches of lift as well as more travel overall, a longer shock is needed.

Without doing an extensive bed cage and long shocks through the bed, what length shocks would work in a modified upper shock mount?

I had briefly explored other options as well. I spoke with a shop and they spec'd Fox shock #883-26-023 along with changes to the fittings x2 #020-50-049-A, sleeves x2 #213-27-003-B and bushings to match the Tundra specific shock #883-26-006.
I was told that with this work it would be a direct bolt on and provide appropriate compressed and extended lengths needed to work with the RXT system.

Thanks. I wonder if cutting off the lower shock mount and welding a longer one on is a good idea. This would match the added shaft that icon uses. Im sure the rxt specific shock is a standard length with unique end pieces

Not sure what shop you talked to but I don’t understand their advice. A resi hose fitting and a sleeve for a rod end bolt doesn’t do anything for the travel of the shock.

I would suggest finding a new shop, unless you are leaving something out. Not sure how that makes sense though.

    Just an FYI

Still doesn’t make any sense at all... not saying you are dumb or anything, but what they are telling you is wrong or they didn’t understand your question.

Tundra fox’s already come with remote resis. You don’t even use a sleeve like that in the lower shock mount. It’s a 1/2 uniball with misalignment spacers.

None of that would give more droop or help for the rxt leafs

I dont think he is referring to a tundra spec shock, it looks like a generic 10 inch travel shock

Fox shock #883-26-023 is a Dodge Ram shock that would be reconfigured to work in place as a rear shock on the Tundra with the RXT leafs.

    The problem
The one problem. There is no way it will fit under full compression and extension with stock mounts with a longer travel spring. I think that shop is mistaken

That’s what I was going to say as well. At bump on a longer shock it will just bottom out.

I think the camburg relocate with a 12” shock like they say would work well.

The RXT leafs are really nice and good quality. Have them on my truck. You’ll love them if you add them. Have them on stage 1 w/ there 2.0’s

Looked at the camburg thank you for that link. Very nice looking kit, exactly what i was imagining. It looks like it was intended for SUA tho which i do not want to do

It’s actually made for the Deaver K37 or similar which is a spring over pack. I’m guessing that it would probably be perfect with the RXT’s and I think that was going to be my plan at some point.

First though I’m going to take the shaft spacer out of the factory location 2.5” Fox’s that I have and see if that extra inch of travel in the shock helps things out.

Why would extension be an issue? Don't you want as much droop as you can get with these kind of systems?
The Icon RXT spec'd Omega rear shocks utilize the stock mounts and has a collapsed length of 16.3" and an extended length of 28.25", the Fox #883-26-023 has a collapsed length of 16.0" and an extended length of 26.77".

It’s easy if you have the tools haha. I’ll post pics when I’m doing it. I’m assuming there is a spacer in there anyways haha. Almost all shocks con with them.

lol I feel like I would initially be a deer in the headlights until I see how it actually works, then im golden. have to almost be hands on or see visual representation to fully comprehend it. but def do that. id like to see the process!

The icon shock does not technically use the factory lower mount. A standard travel fox spec shock had a collapsed length under 16 inches. If you added length for more droop, it will bottom out before the spring does. Thus one of the mounts needs to change

The Icon shock definitely does utilize the factory lower mount. Are you referring to the drop style lower mount on the shock itself? From my understanding it's designed in that manner to provide maximum amount of droop for the system.
With the minimum lift height spec of the RXT leaf pack being 1.75" and from your initial question of shock options, standard spec shocks wouldn't be considered.
The collapsed length of the Fox shock in question is less than that of the Icon Omega so wouldn't that be ok? The main limitation I see is that it has less stroke length than the Omega so it would be limiting your droop. Unless you utilize the shocks designed by Icon for this system or have some custom made I would imagine you'd have a tough time finding an exact match and that there is going to be some give and take.

Yes im refering to the unique shape of the lower eye on the icon shock. This allows for a longer shock in stock mount.

Icon deserves credit for this innovation, but you are paying a few hundred extra just for the shock eye. If you want to run a different shock, gotta change the mount, which of course cost extra too i guess

This is the most travel info I've found on the RXTs. Has anyone actually pulled the extra leafs and cycled the suspension yet?
