Not much of an update. Still waiting for parts. Paid a company for a winch 2 mos ago, never got said winch, asked where my winch was, they decided to keep my $1500, so now banks are involved. Yay.....

Otherwise, been trying to put some road miles on this thing. Everything seems to be “good”. After about 500-700ish miles, I’ll put it back on stands and nut/bolt the whole suspension again to make sure I don’t end up like the Tacoma guy on IG who’s rear end ripped out from underneath it while wheeling. After that, I have to meet up with @blackoutt and it’s time for some wheeling in KY/TN.

In other news, my buddy who bought my original TRD Pro wheels, also bought my TRD Pro Bilsteins. We had a wrenching session last weekend in 20 degree weather with the door open, to get it all on his truck. He ended up going with the Icon AAL pack, which eliminates most of the leafs minus the main and overload, and a shim each up front. He’s really happy with the ride and how it ended up settling.

‘‘Twas a long and cold day, with seized rusty shackles and seized rear shocks stems, but we findished it in a day.

Long truck problems. I ended up taking a cutoff wheel to the rear shock upper stem nuts to get mine off too, not looking forward to the shackle replacement either. So now it's pretty much a TRD pro right?

    Also that 4runner

    Preach!

I don't know how you got a cut-off up there. I tried, but my grinder was too big. We ended up cutting off the boot and vice gripping the shit out of the upper shaft. Also coated the nut in PB blaster. It did the trick, but it definitely sucked. For the shackles, we couldn't get them out. We tried everything, minus heat. We ended up saying F it, went to my house and grabbed my leaf packs and tore the down to rebuild. Luckily, I did my suspension over winter shutdown. Otherwise, I am not sure what we would have done. We Super Lubed the hell out of those shackle bolts though...

Ditto... Put mine in back in June and by October, the paint was totally jacked and showing rust spots. No rain, no river crossings. Just hot-dry SoCal Summer.

Haha, I knew what you meant, Jeff.

Hey, so can anything be done to Deavers to prevent rust, like say painting or otherwise treating them with something before mounting them?

    Not much to update.

However, it’s been colder than a gold digger’s heart on account of some polar bears breaking or something along those lines...

I have been rinsing off the salt off the Kings though, since I don’t want them to rust. Should have splurged on the coated versions, but hindsight is 20/20. I generally don’t drive the truck much, since I have a daily, but I’ve been putting miles on it to make sure everything is gtg.

Otherwise, all the @Baja Designs lights came. Literally, these dudes are the best to deal with and have top notch stuff. Can not recommend you guys enough.

It’s supposed to be warm today, so the camburg bumper and warn winch should be going on.

To mount it in my truck? Nah, I have a hi-lift on the Datinfab rack. This is just for shop use and because I was tired of stacking wood blocks to raise my crawler. And now my truck, since it sits much higher after the lift.

Hey there! I've noticed that your DRL is running both the amber lights and the LED, which looks AMAZING! From what I've read is that you have to give up the Amber lights when upgrading to the new headlights. Is that true? If it is, how did you run both the LED and Amber, is there some hack to the wiring?
    Thanks!

That would not be true. I’m running the conversion harness from @iHacker and there are a couple ways you can run them, which are listed in his thread. Let me see if I can find it and I’ll post it up.

I chose to do the white and orange DRL because I thought I’d look pretty cool.

This thing has been a giant bitch to put on, but it’s getting there. I consider myself pretty competent, but this thing has just kicked my ass the whole way onto the truck.

Here’s a pic for a sneak peak before it’s done. Huge shoutout to Joey from @sdhq_offroad for putting up with my dumb comments and my questions. His motivation to get things resolved is just badass! Appreciate the help!

Did a little wheeling this past weekend. Really glad I ended up getting the bumper and winch setup. It pissed rain for 2 days straight and made the rivers flood and everything else was mud soup. Got bound up and stuck a couple times due to the mud bogs that were river banks and had to give myself a yank or two.

    Couple takeaways from the trip:
    - I need bigger tires . I do have a set of 37s in my garage. Hmmm...........
    - Those tires need to be MTs, so the KO2s will be up for sale.

@the_midwesterner think you can get a picture of how you mounted the propane tank there? I know which mount it is, just curious out you bolted it to the rack. Thanks!

Sure, I can get them tomorrow in the daylight. It’s just some bolts and washers through the power tank propane mount on the @Datin Metal Fab bed rack though.

Cool i would appreciate it. I just installed my @Datin Metal Fab yesterday and just looking for a mounting ideas for the Propane tank.

Also trying to figure out a mount for the recovery boards. Holes do not line up exactly how i was hoping they would on the. I will share if i think of something for those.

Yeah, same. Haven’t figured out a good method of doing this yet. I just ordered 2 more panels from Datin to try and accomplish it. Not that I’m absolutely in love with traction boards, but sometimes they are useful.

Yeah never really want to have to use the recovery boards but without a which it’s the next best thing I got to get out of trouble.

I’ll be checking in on the tread to see your progress. Keep it going man.

Indeed. I created a thread for @ExpeditionOne to show the interest in a high clearance rear bumper that retained a hitch and towing option, but no word on status yet. It’s still difficult for me to believe that no one creates this. Coming from the Jeep/crawler world, it’s a staple in like EVERY rear bumper design.

Also, thanks for the kind words. More changes coming soon.

Stocking up on parts for the install on this @ics_fab mount. Planning on finally putting my iPad up on there, plus the inReach explorer+ I got from @ramonortiz55 group buy a while ago. Went with the C size stuff for the iPad, since I HATE stuff that rattles. The rest of it will be B-size.

let us know how this goes. I am currently using one of the air vent mounts from Rago but looking for something a little more solid. I also have an issue getting the mount to stay on the passenger vent and Rago support said it wasnt really designed for the Tundra??... kinda odd but I am still looking for a better solution.

    Thanks!
