The Motiv-X tool allows you to drain all the oil out of the filter through a hose. That way when you remove the filter there's no mess.

My plan is that with that and the fumoto with a drain hose, it shouldn't be messy.

I have had 2 Fumoto valves. 1 on my 2005 STi and another on my Outback. It was so much nicer not wasting almost 3 dollars on a one time use crush ring. I plan on getting one for the Tundra once my free oil changes are up at the dealer. I've not even had my first oil change yet.

Bought the valve for the Tundra with lock and nipple. Also the wench and aluminium housing to replace plastic one. Also purchased the same for my wife's minivan Mazda.

I have exactly what @MotoTundra has along with 10 oil filters to go with it. I didn't take my truck in for the first oil change nor do I plan on utilizing the "free" oil changes. I'd prefer to do it myself and do it right.

I should be doing my first oil change with the tool/fumoto soon. Looking forward to it!

Any one using schaeffer oil heard it is supposed to be the best, but I think they all say that.

Prezactly. That's what I did. It drove the dealership (or really, their contracted 3rd party service "we won't sell your phone number or e-mail address Mr. McGovern." Liars.) nucking futs. They must have called or e-mailed over 100 times. Funny thing is I told them that at the table when we did the sale paperwork. "I will never ever bring my truck back to your service department. EVER."

And with a set of Rhino ramps, Fumoto valve and Jowett Performance oil filter housing cap (with Fumoto) it's easy. "No," I don't mind removing the factory metal/steel skid plate. I actually want to lay there and look up with my own eyes and have a look around.

Ohhh Lorty. Oh Lorty Lorty Lorty. The peace-of-mind that comes with knowing it was done correctly. Priceless.

I haven't had an opportunity to install it yet, because I'm not due for an oil change right now, Lol. I probably have another month to go before I'm due. Sorry about that. I will let you know, though!

I have not used any tape at all with my Fumoto valves and I have never had a leak. I would avoid it.

My Fumoto arrived yesterday - got the SX series. What's the metal washer for? I thought the o-ring in the fumoto is all that's needed to seal it to the oil pan.

Not sure about the metal. I've never gotten that and I've put on 5 Fumotos in the last 5 years. All you need is the fiber type (light blue in color for me) washer. Calibrate your wrist to tighten it properly (just snug it up).

I've never done Teflon tape ever on an oil drain plug. And I've been doing my own oil changes on Toyotas since 1985. NEVER even a drop of a leak.

But perhaps I put in the lawyer part here: YMMV.

I drained my oil yesterday with the fumoto valve. It takes forever for the oil to drain out. I ended up taking it off and putting the old plug back in.

It feels like the opening is too narrow.

Not being argumentative. But do you always remove the oil filler cap before you open your oil drain plug/bolt?

The Fumoto is slower. No doubt. I open her up, let her start draining and the go about getting my oil filter, filter housing cap wrench. Garbage bucket. Record the mileage and date in my maintenance log. By that time it's usually pretty much drained. If not......just pack a bowl and smoke a bong hit.

Sure do, oil cap off prior to draining. It might be my impatience, but just seems super slow.
