    When I was 10 or 11 my family and I took a trip into BC and I was so excited because I saw a mountie in his red uniform eating at a restaurant. For a kid he may as well been Superman! I was so excited.

    +2 C here, and the snow we were forecast to get ended up being rain, with some crazy wind gusts. Nothing to shovel or plow, I’m OK with that right now.

    I’m on standby to plow 3 driveways with an open-cab skid-steer while my buddy is in Hawaii, and trying to kick a case of bronchitis. Getting off easy so far. :thumbsup:

    I feel that I should be able to post in this thread because I went to Canada once...


    ...and all got was this wife. ;)



    So I have a few “Canada questions” if you guys are game for them.

    Currently, and for the last 20 years, I have lived in Hawaii. We are considering moving to Victoria BC, where my wife is from. It’s beautiful and there’s mountains and seasons and space and the schools are better than here and you guys seem really friendly and probably not likely to shoot me in a road rage incident. I really like the idea of not having my 7 and 10year olds doing “active shooter” drills anymore. However, The job market and pay scales look uh... not so good in comparison to the states. So I’m concerned about work, housing cost, culture shock and bureaucracy.

    So what do you guys think of Canada specifically BC.

    How bad is the bureaucracy? Bored police writing tickets, backed up court systems, building permit red tape and such.

    Anything I should be aware of?

    What do you guys think of the job market and opportunities for kids?

    Being a lifetime American how bad is the culture shock going to be?

    I can’t really comment on the island. My wife is from Kelowna Bc. It seems awfully expensive for housing. Seems challenging for a single income to afford a house.

    But Canada is pretty dec. The healthcare is good for the price. The majority are topped up on debt. Seems the housing is worth more than it should be. Justin is our... can’t tak political.

    Freeeeedom is good. If you can score a good job life is mint. Our government isn’t shut down. Weed is legal...we chill. At this point get most things you guys get (products etc), without the chance of getting nuked haha
