    Oh one or two.
If the part has a CARB number it's fine in CA not sure who is telling you anything aftermarket is not legal. It could be that no one has ever CARB approved parts for the 4.7 but I'm not sure.

Yeah you have to find a CA legal one unfortunately I don't know much about the 4.7 so I don't know what one if any has CARB approval.

Nothing is carb approved unless it creates rainbows and moonbeams.

Just curious....Not living in Cali, how would they even know? Do you have to do some sort of Veh inspection or something for registration?

Just buy whichever one you want and keep the stock one in the garage. put it on when it's time to smog.

Its a love - hate relationship with Cali. But they do a visual inspection under the hood, and a sniffer smog test in the tailpipe every 2 years. Any new vehicle gets 6 years before you have to smog it. So a 2014 will not need to smog until 2020 (if iam not mistaken).

Legal and CA do not go hand in hand. I just shipped my cousin his K&N (CA) for his F150

This last year my wife's scion was up for smog and they only did a visual and hooked up to the obd2. No sniffer any more if you have the obd2. They just check for engine codes and whatnot.
