I'm surprised it took Honda this long.

Yeah, but fairly under-powered unfortunately. I'm waiting to see if they come out with a turbo version. For now I'm looking at the Can Am Maverick X3 XRS Turbo R because it's the only one I fit in (RZR, Wildcat XX and YXZ1000R SS SE were all too small). This R version of the Talon is a little wider than the X, but still not as wide as the Can Am. Have yet to sit in a Talon.

Thats some good info. Anything else you found during researching them? I will be in the market this fall and am a tall wide guy. Nearest powersports dealer is 3 hours away. I have been riding dirtbikes for 30 years and am too beat up to ride them anyomre so time to move to SxSs.

Budget for a few additional items to help harden off whatever SxS you go with. Belts on the CVT drives break a lot, but someone has some up with an HD version that is incredibly durable (I forget the name ATM). There are also some flaps made by RokBlokz that will help keep small rocks from wedging themselves between the brake assembly and the wheel and doing permanent damage to wheels. Things like that and other parts that will eventually need upgrading need to be budgeted for.

I'd definitely recommend sitting in all of them to see if you fit first though to see if any will work for you. I originally wanted the Wildcat XX LTD because of how well-built and well-thought out the design was, but my knees were jammed up against the dash so that basically made it undrivable.

No cvt belt to snap on this! It has an automotive dual clutch transmission. Only 100 hp but an extremely reliable 100hp. This is the Dakar proven Africa twin engine. The engineers knew the aftermarket would be turbocharging these right away so they made it bulletproof. It's Honda's first step into the sport SxS arena and it'll only get better from here. Two different models. One for the west coast deserts and one for the eastern forests.

Yeah, that's one of the reasons I'm waiting. I'm not a fan of the CVT drives at all TBH.

Nice. I am familiar with african twins from the adv rider world. I have always been a honda 4 stroke fan.

How do you know the engineers designed it to be turbocharged?

    Does it have large talons?

Jokes aside, I love Honda. I’m happy they came out with a side by side. Interested in how these perform and last.

I have the pioneer 1000 with the same platform engine, lesser hp of course... it’s great, fun to drive and shift! I’ve been waiting for this for a year and I’m getting the X when it comes out. Normally I don’t like first year releases but ...it’s a Honda :)

That’s classic Honda. They haven’t been ahead of the atv/utv game since the 400ex. And that was left in the dust quickly by their competitors.

Me too. I've had hondas since 1983 (hence my screen name). Honda is usually a safe bet. Heres my pioneer, been nothing less than great:
