So I've looked around the internet and I cant seem to find any descent custom headlights for my 01 that dont cost a arm and a leg. Any one find and good lookin ones? Are 2001 models compatible with any other year? Also, has anyone switched the fog lights with pods?

I dont have rounded fog lights. Mine are the rectangular ones. Would those lights fit a 01? Heres a pic for referance

There are not a ton of options for the early years like ours. The 05-06 models seem to have more options. What I did recently is sand/restore both my head and fog lights and then replace the bulbs. It definitely improved the brightness and night.

From my research there is not much out there for 00-02, unless you make your own. This gets stupid expensive which is fine if you have the money, and patience/skill, and more money if you mess up. Plan on $400-$600 minimium and you still have to make things happen. Not plug and play.

I just went through all the different ways on how do get some cool headlights and that is my conclusion.

I ended up swapping in new halogen bulbs into some new headlamp assemblies. Also, swapped in some new halogen bulbs into the existing fog assemblies. Amazing what new bulbs can do. Here are some pics. Maybe down the road I’ll switch to LED fogs bulbs that are plug and play with no fans or relay switches. I think the fogs make the best impact for visibility (side to side and some upfront projection).

You can clean up your fog lens’ and spray with clear acrylic the make them new and shiny again. Also, helps with illumination.

Before (notice the old tired halogen fog compared to the after).

After (Sylvania new bulbs in both head and fogs).

These are what I will put into my fogs in the future. Waiting on the next versions to come out as each sucessive version seems to be getting better regardless of brand. Maybe next year.

Are the halogen lights plug and play? Would an led light be bright then a halogen? I'm really looking for whatever those blue looking headlight are.

Did you have to sand it down before you applied the acrylic or did you just apply it after washing them?

Halogen lights are plug and play, as they are what were original when these trucks were new. I do not have LED exterior lights, but have heard and seen pictures on other threads that they are indeed brighter.

You can get the blue looking lights in LED or halogen. Depending on your State, the blue may cost you a ticket.

Read the reviews and instructions from wherever you may purchase your bulbs to give you an idea of what you are buying first.

Cleaned it with a damp rag, then used some acetone on a rag which slightly softened the lens surface. While the surface was slighty soft, I sprayed the acrylic on which then bonded to the soft surface and melded when the two hardened.
