Stock TRD PRO vs AFTERMARKET??

Hey Everyone!!
(Newbie here...
Thanks for allowing me!!)

Need a few tire kickers to help me decide since I'm stuck on the fence!!!

I'm thinking about going back to my stock trd pro rims and was thinking about buying the (goodyear duratrac's 18"s) or
(Cooper St. Pro 18"s)

Was wondering how are they all working out for you?? And if your having any negative feelings about them??

Trying to keep that aggressive look at the same time.
(Its kinda mandatory!!)


Trying to compare them to what I was running...
33x12.5x20, Toyo Mt's
On 20x9 rockstar 2's
(Stock TRD pro suspension)
(I have never run anything other than this setup)

Any feedback from you would be greatly appreciated.

I’m still running the stock rims on my Pro and really like the look.

Welcome Jimmy. You could add some Spidertrax 1.25" spacers to your stock wheels to increase the aggressive look. I like the stock wheels.

 

For sure... totally agree.
When I said "aggressive look"
I was referring to the look of the tires. Not really my rims. The offset on those rockstar rims are only, +18.
Barely stuck out past the fender. I think the stock rims are like +60. And that looks great by me.
I'm not a big fan of,
major negative offsets.
Just like mean looking tires!!

I completely agree... BUT
Them dam 20" Toyo's Mt's are to dam expensive!!! And way to soft for all the highway mile I put on it. Had to replace them after 5 months!!!! That shit will break the bank!!

 

Those are some badass looking wheels. I have always liked storm trooper white Pro.

 

I like the PRO wheels. They just don’t give that wide stance. I was 50/50 on spacers, so I decided on new wheels. You can’t go wrong either way if I was to keep the stock wheels, I’d run spacers for sure.

Yeah that’s why I went with different wheels instead. But a lot of guys run them with no issues. I had a few people recommend them, and I trust their knowledge. As long as you get the right brand, you should be good. Then again, you never know and that’s the scary part.

 

The Tundra wheel wells are large and enough for 35" tires on stock wheels (as long as you don't go wider than ~285-295mm). I would only buy an aftermarket wheel if it was forged aluminum as I have no interest in running a 12.5"+ tire. I currently run LT285/70R-18 Nitto Exo Grapplers and will try LT285/75R-18 Yokohama A/Ts or Falken A/Ts when my current tires are worn out.

 

Do you have any rub issues? I like the way your wheels look!

 

There were no issues and no cutting was necessary. I have King coilovers set to about 1.5" of lift and stock leafs in the rear.

 

I've always liked the Pro wheels.

 

I loved the duratrac's on my old jeep. Got tons of miles before trading it in for my tundra. But if I still had my jeep, I was going to go with 37in stt pros in the future because I loved how aggressive those looked vs the duratracs.

 

The issue is if you get bigger tires and don't change wheels or use spacers, you'll very quickly reach a point where the tire rubs on the inside of the wheel well

 

295/70 STT PROS with 1" bora spacers had to heat and mold the fender liner and ditch the flaps but I love the trd wheels I have not really found an aftermarket wheel I love yet

They're identical except for original color, personally I wouldn't value pro wheels and powdercoated regular TRDs plus pro center caps any differently. Nobody makes a knockoff version of this wheel yet.

 

Noticed a marking that might be related to the manufacture. But like @ninjajay said you can powder coat TRD OEM wheels, a lot cheaper option.

 

That's just the JWL stamp, the other OE wheels will have them too

 

In the eyes of the beholder I guess. Same exact rims just different colors. I mean if it was a classic car and you were trying to get era correct it might make a difference. But if you get the TRD rims powder coated, I don’t think anything makes them worse or better. As long as the color was correct I don’t think anyone would ever notice. Personally it wouldn’t sway me into thinking it would be less value, long as they look good.

 

Ballpark 600-800 I'd say, which is about what they currently sell for on this site. The regular TRD wheels are 400-500 and you'd have to spend another 400 or so on powercoating plus the Pro center caps.

 

Looks great!! Pretty much the look I'm going for.

 

There's no difference between the TRD "Off-Road" package wheels and TRD Pro wheels except for the paint and center cap (unless we're talking 2019+ forged wheels). The part number should be visible from the inboard side of the wheel.
