I've been looking for quite some time for a solution to allow me to run my Galaxy tab 3 as my gps for offorad navigation. I recently found ICS FAB on Instagram thanks in part to @4lobound ( I know you're on here but cant remember your username). And this seems to be the solution to what Ihave been looking for.

    Display_1024x1024@2x.jpg

First, the review of the product, followed by detailed install instructions with pics.

**I paid for this product so that I could give an honest review of the product without any obligation to the company. **

ICS asked me for feedback as soon as I got the product and the only feedback I offered at the time was that I would have preferred a lesser price @ $75ish bucks vs the $90sh I paid when ordering. He promptly responded that he had in fact reduced his price to that point.

For those that dont want to keep reading that are looking for a way to be able to mount anything you can think of to your central dash, stop looking for other products and go buy this.

here is the link to purchase

    https://www.ics-fab.com/products/tundra-amps-dash-mount

Ill do my review using a 10/10 point scoring system with 10 being best possible or exceeds expectations. 10's in my book are hard to achieve.

The Following criteria will be reviewed
    1)Ease of ordering
    2)Communication with company
    3)Speed of Shipping
    4)Packaging
5)Quality of product out of box
6)Fit of product into designated location
7)Level of difficulty of install- scored differently with 1 being no install necessary to 10 being specialized tools and fab skills necessary
    8) Final Thoughts

    1) Ease of Ordering-
10/10- vendors website is easy to use

    2)Communication with Company-
9/10- After my order was placed I got an immediate email generated by the vendors website, I will say I likely had a little better communication with the vendor than your average Joe as he and I had been talking about the product and possible future products via Instagram Messenger for about a month. This being said, I would say that "average Joe" would receive more than adequate communication status post order placement.

    3)Speed of shipping-
9/10- only way it could have exceeded my expectation is if it had been overnight shipped to me, which is unreasonable. After order, I received shipping notice the following morning and shipped that same day( order placed after business hours.)

    4) Packaging-
10/10- This came in a USPS small flat rate box that was well taped with ICS FAB personalized tape. The mount was then wrapped with bubble wrap followed by a plastic bag with the hardware inside in an individual bag. Excellent packing. Below are pictures of the packaging as well as what is included in your order.IMG_20190118_145844.jpg
    IMG_20190118_145857.jpg

    IMG_20190118_150040.jpg IMG_20190118_150007.jpg

5)Quality of Product out of box-
10/10- I don't see any flaws to the overall design, the cuts are smooth and professional looking. The coating on the mount is top notch, just the right texture.

6)Fit of Product into designated Location-
8/10- This product is slightly smaller than the space in the dash it is designed to fill, I would have preferred it to be slightly larger and take up all of the space of the "cubby"(is that what its called?) With this being said, the end user is able to move the mount slightly front to back and side to side. This is being picky as the product comes with a template for install that allows the customer to ensure proper fitment. See install instructions.

    7) Level of difficulty of install- scored differently with 1 being no install necessary to 10 being specialized tools and fab skills necessary

This gets a 4/10 because I did not have a set of automotive trim tools and needed them for this install, otherwise, this is as straight forward as it gets. You'll be able to see in the install section where I attempted to remove the panels with a flat head and scuffed the plastic a bit. Not a worry for me, as you cant see it when put back together, but I would highly recommend the trim tools.

    8)Final Thoughts-
This is an excellent product that gets top marks in my opinion, it is the perfect solution to my needs and I anticipate that this up and coming company will be producing more innovative and useful products for us Tundra owners in the future.

See next post for install instructions. Ill get it posted tonight after we get the kids in bed.

    Tools needed for install:
    1. 6mm Allen
    2. 10mm Socket
    3. Long extension
    4. Ratchet
    5. Trim removal tools
    6. 1/8" Drill bit
    7. 1/4" Drill bit
    8. Drill
    9. Center Punch
1)remove the lowest portion of the dash using a trim removal tool, patience is key here.
    IMG_20190118_140250.jpg
Insert tool and work it across the top of the panel, prying up on the back end of the tool top pop the panel loose

Once you do this, there will be electrical connections to remove to completely disengage this pannel. at this time, I chose to replace my cigarette lighter receptacles with dual 2.1 amp USB receptacle port. There are may options out there, but I wanted dual 2.1 amp and no l e d light. there are only a couple options out there I could find and all were more expensive than this.
    see link-https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07CJW3ZRP/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03__o00_s01?
There is a write up on this forum describing how to do this.< i did have to enlarge the holes to get the usb ports to fit.>

Once this panel is removed, you place your hand beneath the a controls and gently pull free.
    IMG_20190118_150201.jpg
    IMG_20190118_150211.jpg
As seen here, there is one electrical connection to the back of the ac panel. I chose to remove this to give me a little more room to work. This does have the connection for the passenger air bag so do so at your own risk. I had zero issues. YMMV.

Next, you will remove the 4(four) 10 mm bolts holding the radio in place.
    IMG_20190118_150242.jpg
You can see the two front bolts here, to the outside of these are the other two, you will need a long extension to reach these. Once the bolts are removed, you will have to place your hand under the radio and pull out, you will fill like you're going to break something before the radio lets loose from the tabs at the top. After removal of the radio, there is one connection at the top driver side of the rear of the radio, black wire with white connector( its the smallest one) I temporarily removed this connection to lay the radio into the passenger side. On my truck, this was the only connection I removed to give me enough slack. I do not think this is necessary in hindsight, but it did give me more room to work. Alas, I forgot to take a picture of this step, hopefully the description is enough for you.

Next, I triple measured the distance from side to side of the mount itself sitting on the dash and placed the template according to my measurements. The positioning of the mount can be moved based on the end users discretion, I chose to mount as far back as possible and centered from side to side.

    Template taped in place-
    IMG_20190118_151632.jpg
Unable to locate a center punch, I filed down a 3 inch wood screw and poked holes in the screw holes seen above, I tapped the screw with the palm of my hand to make the locations to drill.
    IMG_20190118_151751.jpg
Next up is 1/8" drill bit for a pilot hole followed by the 1/4" bit for the final hole. < i didnt get a pic of the 1/4" holes, imagine these a little larger.
    IMG_20190118_152031.jpg

From here, you place the supplied bolts with allen heads into the mount itself and align to all the holes you just drilled. On the inside of the dash goes the fender washer followed by the locking nut. inset the 6 mm allen into the top of the bolt to keep it from spinning and use the 10mm socket/ratchet wrench to turn the lockinng nut until tight.

*** pro tip*** install whatever ball and or acessories you plan to use prior to tightening down your Dash Mount... makes it a lot easier, however, accessories can be installed after mount install completed.

Once bolts are tightened, youre done. reverse the order of dis assembly and put everything back the way you found it.

Attachments for tablet- specifically a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 I used the following...

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008S4JNYO/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0085MDF52/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03__o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Do yourself a favor and go ahead and buy the pan head screws and nylock nuts so you don't have to order a pack of 100 like I did.

**disclaimer, this is the process i used for install, should you choose to follow my steps, I accept zero liability if there is damage or injury that is incurred due to this guide. please take all measures for safety and use this as a tool at your own risk.**

From what I've seen, it's used to mount devices like iPads, etc about the radio for Nav and the such...I'd image a phone could be mounted with this as well.

    Updated with install instructions.

You can install anything to this mount that uses the amps mounting solutions.
Here is everything installed with tablet in place before re-assembly of dash.IMG_20190118_160113.jpg

    thank you
The arm I used would be the one you need, just move the ball mount to the forward most position on the ICS mount.
I've also got this one layed in a manner in which it will rest just above the radio.

I was standing beside the truck when I took this. At this height, it covers part of the hood, but does not stick up any further in my line of sight... the good thing though, its infinitely adjustable due to the ram balls at both ends, so I can move it if someone shorter is driving..

once I got it all installed I grabbed it with both hands ans shook the entire truck with zero deflection trying to test strength. i was more than impressed. 10/10 on strength

Darn nice find. I have always thought that spot on the dash was totally wasted space and useless.

I use that spot to hold my chipotle burritos quite often!

OP, great write up!! I may look at this versus the Tesla screen option

Went to order and the free shipping was no longer available. Bummer, that to me was the deal breaker
