Software Update

Hello all,

Just purchased a 2014 Crew Max Limited TRD with 29,000 miles. So stoked to be back in a Tundra again. I previously owned a 2003 Limited and loved every 183,000 miles I put on it.

Unfortunately the Bluetooth is not working - I read a previous thread regarding getting a software update.

I am getting the same "Waiting for Bluetooth" the selection is gray and cannot be selected and the truck does not show up on my phone.

The truck has low miles, but I am told it is not under warranty.

Does anyone know how much the software update cost?

Thanks Jeremy. I have tried this as well. But the unit would not let me install the update from the USB - is there a trick to that? I got to the update software on the unit, then I got lost as far as selecting the USB for the download.

 

I do remember being unsuccessful the first time.. I then tried another usb stick. Hope that helps.

Just did mine as well.

 

I should of mentioned this earlier, I would reset the radio back to default and see how that works before attempting the firmware update.

General setting
Delete personal data.

Updated mine, 10 minutes tops, no issues. Thanks again @jeremyd !

 

Installing now. Forgot to mention the truck did not have the Map SD card when I purchased. I bought an oem one that should be here in a couple days. Will this prevent the update? I guess I will find out.

 

Not sure on that, If I had to guess, I would say no.

 

All updated and was able to connect my phone. Thanks. When I receive the SD card I will give it a shot. Right now it just says “unable to read the map SD card” I am hoping that when I put it in it should be good to go. Now I can start with the real upgrades. Thanks again for all the help. Looking forward to contributing to this site.

I'm probably just pushing my luck, but no chance you'd know how to download the gracenote updates, would you? That would make you a god among men...

I did this update yesterday with no issues.
I assume this is just a system software update and not a maps update? Is this the case?
I found one link recently where a map update was like $150, which I declined.

Has anyone tried other map updates, or maps other than from Toyota?

 

correct. Just for the system, not the maps.

I would be interested to know if other maps work as well..

 

I bought the OE184 Micro SD card through Amazon. It was $80.00. Installed it last night and works perfectly.

Did you notice a difference in the maps to be worth it?

I just ordered the new map update (oe184) from Ebay, 35 dollars, seller is 100 percent feed back, I'll post back after I install it.

I did not have one in the truck when I bought it. So I have nothing to compare it to. Seems to be good.

 

Just FYI you can buy the latest update, 86271 0E185A on ebay for around 65-70 bucks.

I just put chocolate milk in my frosted flakes !! Lol

 

This is the only reason I want an aftermarket Android head unit. Google maps and Waze. Forget these maps with paid updates.
