Sounds good. Even if we take separate trucks out, if we meet up we can banter otw via radio. I'll be happy to passenger up with you for a portion of the dirt festivities!

I usually hate passengering (car-sickness at any kinda fun speed) but I had a very good time as a front seat passenger when my kid and I hopped in with @TheFreshMouse and his b.i.l. to go up Calcite Mine. It was fun riding up on the balls of my feet to see over that 3rd gen hood and help "spot". (Not sure anyone needed my help ;), but it was more fun having something to "do".)

Once you know you can make it, we can get you added into the PM. But really, since @eccracer104 says cell service works fine out there, we'll probably just text each other, then he'll send us gps coordinates once he gets to the actual camp.

I'd be totally willing to camp Friday IF any Tundra buddies I know commit to Friday. Otherwise, it sounds more like Tundra buds are either day-tripping or else camping Saturday night only, so going out early Saturday and camping Saturday night is my plan.

I'm happy to convoy out for anyone wanting to arrive via I-8. That's out of your way compared to going by Anza Borrego but "freeway close". Let me know if you want to meet and drive out along with me. I'm still clinging to hope that Marty and Mrs. McFly will join us; if so, I'll join them whichever route they take.

PM me your phone if you want.

    Confirmed are @eccracer104 (Tacoma guy! It's his show); @papasmurf; @sdde4n; and @Sunnier.

@Marty McFly hasn't confirmed (and was playing in the snow this weekend), but I'm holding out hope he makes it. A few others showing interest but haven't confirmed. If @Marty McFly comes out, we may still get ... one million Tundras.

^ What @Sunnier said, +like 20 Tacomas, rumor has it there will be a ford, and chevy and a jeep, and then the mercury exploder which is a 4x4 LT train wreck you just can't look away from haha.

I'm headed out Friday morning with 5 other tacomas.

Ps: Just got a heads up from Gary (the LT merc/ferd exploder) dunes are a little rough but still 2wd friendly, wheelers road heading in turned into some pretty bad washboard so air down as soon as you get to dirt to smooth it out!
Also, dirt is tacky, no dust (so probably a little dust by the time we get there), no mud and the sand is on the firmer side.

I’m going to have to bail out of this one @Sunnier :pout: :sorry:

My parents need my help clearing a downed tree on their property. My dad is too old to use a chainsaw. Obligatory son duties call

If we can get something more local (e.g. bee Canyon, or that trail from North County SD to Lake Elsinore) that would be ideal for a last run before i go into hibernation for a few months

The stock tack welds can't keep up!

Going to hang them up in place and run a bead on the same hangers or switch up the mounting somehow?

My last truck I broke a mount and had a shop brace it. Basically triangulated two mounts together for a little extra strength.

Nice we hadn’t been in that area for years since they closed down the quary that we passed going up that road. But now looks like we will be going up there often. Sure beats going up to Barstow from riverside.

yeah i think it was just old, the many many heat cycles made the metal weak, and the welds didnt break the actual exhaust pipe and muffler skin broke right out. the metal was still welded to the hanger... so there is a hole in the muffler and pipe.

:(. Son/ husband responsibilities must be attended to, I know.

Don't forget, I'm also "expecting" (Looong Travel, Baby), so I'm not making firm plans for the coming month other than to hand Bruce tools and beer, once parts come in. Whenever that might be. :pout:

Sounds like next week is the earliest the UCA's and LCA's will come, and the fiberglass fenders which I have to p/u in Costa Mesa (they got pushed back too). So there's a small chance I'll have time for a little more dirt therapy in the BFT before she settles into her role as a suburban princess.

nope so the 4 bolts and the one hanger on the left of that pic were all that was holding it up, what lead me to find it was the hanger that broke out of the muffler was resting on the drive shaft making noise. so i just took it off. Didnt notice any exhaust noise when it was on and broken... but once i took it off ya for nascar LOL
