I received color-matched front bumper end caps for my 2016 CM SR5, gonna replace the chrome. Anyone have any pointers for removing the front bumper and replacing the end caps? I found this link, but it doesn't show removing the grille. Would be nice if I don't have to remove the newly installed grille to remove the bumper (I didn't do them at the same time), but maybe that's what you need to do. Anywho, are these instructions right for removal of the front bumper? Not installing the bumper in the instructions, rather replacing the existing chrome bumper end caps.

The grill is really easy to remove: pop the hood, remove the 2 screws at the top, remove the 4 pop clips, pull the grill out/up from the bottom corners.

Yeah, I installed the current grille and removed the chrome one. Just don't want to accidentally break a tab on my new grille if I don't have to.....

@harrisdoggy I don't know if they are right. Looks like a 2 person job, plus you will have to disconnect the harnesses for the fog lights. Please keep us updated if those instructions are correct. I have been putting off getting my bumper ends powdercoated because I am too busy/lazy to start messing with the front.

@Emily didn't you remove your bumper ends without removing the grill? Did you use this method?

@MotoTundra - I'll let you know what I find out. Found a body shop guy who said he'd install them for $100. Wondering if it's worth it......

Keep us updated. Yeah it's a tough call. I like learning and saving money, but there are times it just makes more sense to pay. They can break clips too though...

    Good luck!

I just replaced my front bumper last week with out removing any other pieces. Disconnect the parking sensors and fog lights. Remove the 4 nuts on each side that hold the bumper on the frame with a 14mm. I then separated with a breaker bar and the bumper was then easily slid off the mounting bolts.

@trayday - Thanks! Did you find it difficult to swap the color match pieces on the bumper before putting back on the truck?

NP! Swapping the bumper ends I can't help with. I replaced with the N-Fab RSP bumper. Supposed to be direct bolt replacement but I ended up having to shave 1/16" inward on all 8 of the holes to have the bumper fit. Something N-Fab should fix. I forgot to mention that I didn't have the plastic lining on the inside of the bumper.

@MotoTundra @harrisdoggy yea I just removed the chrome pieces didn't touch the grille at all. The middle black piece will come off as well. I do admit it was a pain in the ass getting into the tight areas and I have smaller hands then guys. My knuckles definitely looked like I got in a fight.

Thx for the info. Ended up finding someone who did it for $75. He said the instructions for bumper removal I linked earlier were not totally complete. It took him a couple hours to do it with help from someone else in his shop occasionally. Was not the dealer, just someone who does body work on the side.
